Amflow make a XXL that they suggest fits people up to 6'7" / 201cm.

How large do you want the frames to go?!

They stopped producing XXL. It’s no longer available.

You can modify your riding position a lot with longer stems and seatposts with offset... The size extension of various frame parameters is at max 30mm going from XL to XXL.

It's a business not a charity at the end of the day - they made it but had XXL low demand.

I think your complaint stands for shorter riders, no small frame is pretty rubbish amflow!

Amflow is a new business. People recieved their first bikes about 12 months ago.

Talk to your LBS. Post COVID, the EMTB business is really struggling. So how about we encourage manufacturers to stay liquid and support the bikes they have sold, those that have been ordered and those that will be ordered, rather than take financial risks, that could put their business, and all the support, at risk.

Have we learnt nothing from the experience of those that have ordered and paid for bikes, but lost everything ?

Maybe they can charge more for XXL if production cost is higher, they already have made the mold and was in production. Don't understand why they stopped production...

A mould will only make X amount of frames before it needs replacement. The mould may have made it's quota. So they pulled the pin.

My LBS that sold me my Amflow, said that Amflow were not really making a lot of money on the bikes. Now that they are their own business unit and separated from the parent DJI. I suspect they are going to have to become more financially viable. This would mean rationalising the product lines to the most profitable bikes.

If XXL wasn't selling well. There would be significant production line and supply chain efficiencies from dropping the size. It would also free up capital and stock parts to look at that Enduro Line of Amflows, if they are looking at that as a path for expansion.

This is what people who have never dealt with DJI before will come to learn, they make some great products but ultimately they’re pretty ruthless in terms of pulling products that aren’t ’doing the numbers’, or to make way for the next iteration.

Amflow is a DJI company, maybe it has its own bottom line, but nobody should pretend it’s independent.

I used to buy ‘enterprise’ versions of their drones in a previous job, we stopped doing business with them after a while as they pulled support for products with little notice, including critical spares.

For people who actually have skin in an Amflow product. I want Amflow to remain profitable so my investment in them can maintain the longest lifespan, through continued support. If that requires them revisiting their product offerings. Then so be it. Better they adapt and survive than remain stagnant and perish along with the support.

Amflow support and response, has been very good. All communication has been promptly responded to. Spares are very well priced. And delivery times of spares, very acceptable. So a company actually backing it's existing customers, is a refreshing change. But yes. It may come at the cost of potential customers.

Yes, the Amflow is v1 of the product.

It will change, as it does with all manufactured products as they get further from launch to be fair, but I’m passing on my ‘skin in the game’ experience and you may be surprised how quickly parts disappear once ‘v2’ is launched.

It’s a problem for all e-bikes, they don’t seem blessed with long term support options outside of the OEM parts, anything proprietary you’re at the mercy of how long they decide to support it.

I use the DJI cameras. And unlike insta 360, have maintained the same mounting on their action cameras. I have had zero issues getting spares, like new lens cover. So my experience with DJI has been exceptional.

Amflow answer...
Hi there,

We regret to inform you that the XXL size for both the Carbon PL and Carbon PL Pro models will be discontinued and no longer available for production or sale. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and truly appreciate your understanding.

Please note that the product pages for these models are currently being phased out across regional websites.

Should you have any further questions or need assistance with alternative options, please feel free to contact us. We are here to help.

Interestingly I have similar thought about the brand and their approach to the market / customers. Having run a high tech business for decades I discovered that a business plan has a short life span in such a rapidly changing market. Recognizing trends, inefficiencies, and being responsive is important less the eventuality is to become a dinosaur. I find their approach to many of the aspects of running a business including the mentions above to be impressive. An yes I am sure that many of the decisions that are made are not ultimate for every customer.

or they just didn't know their market very well. Would a small frame with a 600wh been more popular than a XXL?

My guess is "marginally". When I look for a left over bike at the end of the year on sale it seems like the Medium and Large are sold out. My money would be on selling to fighter pilots and formula one drivers and leave the market for shrimps and basketball players to someone else :)

Maybe when they developed the moulds, the American market was going to be bigger component of sales. Americans tend to be bigger. After 2024, trading with the US became more difficult and expensive and the goal posts have moved.

We can speculate. But it seems to me that in their infancy, Amflow's focus is high volume sales. And with the high volume, pricing does seem very well placed. I paid $AUD13,900 for the Pro. The non-Pro is AUD$9400. That's US$6200 or £4600, which is very competative for such a highly spec'd EMTB with the Avinox M1 Motor and a 800Wh battery.

So for the majority. Their focus on high volume does provide a pricing advantage. And those wanting the lower volume sizes and type of EMTBs, can get the Avinox System from the more boutique manufacturers. There are some great ones coming out. I am considering them. I just can't decide whether to upgrade my Pro, or get a bigger hitting EMTB. The stable is already overflowing ..... :ROFLMAO:

Your price point is a bit off for the UK, prices don’t convert like that here at least, you’ll need £5999 for the standard PL and £8999 for the Pro (or AUD$18399 at today’s exchange rate).

We get a better deal here for Chinese products. Not sure exactly why. We have a free trade agreement and shipping would be cheaper. China is also our biggest trading partner by a large proportion.

Even the Chinese EVs are significantly cheaper here than in the UK. Even the Chinese built Teslas are cheaper than what the US pay for them. It's a sweet deal, that's for sure.

Chinese governement subsidize everything sold from there, that's why people, for example, can order all kind of cheap shit from there with ridiculous cheap postage. Or why you get cheap deals for chinese cars...

Eff you! You been getting all the chicks, able to reach things, so sports cars and not all bikes fit you. Boohoo.

Just kidding. Being way out of the bell curve I'm certain is difficult at times. But there are some brands that do offer XXLs and I'd think that higher weight would matter a bit less.

GL!

Nearly 80% of cars sold in Australia come from Asia. Japan is our No.1. China 2. Thailand 3, Korea 4. We don't manufacture cars. We don't manufacture EBikes.

We need to purchase these goods from somewhere. So if China wants to increase our purchasing power. I will gladly see my hard earned income go further.

that’s unlikely as the population US of the US isnt in the Top 10 by height, the decision was probably made based upon Europe as the people are taller on average and it was one of the launch markets.

A little off-topic but you made me curious, were the "enterprise" versions just a bit heavier and more robust, with a bit higher price than the consumer versions, or what were the specific differences?

There’s an ‘Enterprise’ drone website, if you look at the discontinued products, some of what I purchased is on there.

I think we were delighted that the tech was moving so fast, but also disappointed how quickly things became unsupported.

I personally purchased a DJI Inspire for my own aerial photography interest, but batteries became very hard to find after a relatively short time and no third parties were making them either. The latter is less of a problem with consumer stuff, as others are making them, but with a vertically integrated setup like the Avinox I’m interested to see how long it’s supported when v2 comes along.

As it’s aimed at ‘consumers’ I’m hoping it’s a long time.
