Subject: Rear Hub Play on New Trance X Advanced E+ Elite 1 (2024)

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a Giant Trance X Advanced E+ Elite 1 (2024) and noticed something concerning right at the time of pickup from the shop. The rear wheel had noticeable play, which turned out to be caused by poor fitment between the axle and the bearing in the rear hub.

It’s a brand-new bike, so I’m wondering:
Has anyone else experienced similar issues with the E-TRX carbon wheels or rear hub on this model?
Is this a known issue or just an isolated case?

Thanks in advance for any insights!

Yes, I had the same issue and it was solved under warranty.
It’s just the spacer/shim between the hub axle and the bearing. Your dealer must contact Giant, and they will take care of it... the correct item reference was: 152C-M69REA-0001

Thanks for your reply.
My shop has already submitted a warranty repair request, and I’m currently waiting to see the outcome.

Regarding the part 152C-M69REA-0001 – is that some kind of micro bushing?
I’ve seen the hub disassembled, and honestly, there doesn’t seem to be any space to fit anything like that.
From what I can tell, the only real solution would be a new axle or a bearing with a slightly smaller inner diameter.

For now, the service team glued the bearing in place and told me to ride it. ;-)

Yeah, maybe bushing is the correct word.
You will find it when remove the freehub. The new one is a bit larger, you will need to replace it.

Yes, I have experienced the same issue on the TRA wheelset. I havent done anything to solve it yet though

Oh, which ones did you buy and how much did you pay?

Also: the store called yesterday to say Giant sent a new hub. The question is, will it be good or the same? ;-)

I still have a problem with the ergo 3. The top button doesn't flex/click at all. I reported it too. Wee will see.

I think I paid $450 on sale.

it's just about to replace that spacer and problem solved...not needed to replace the complete hub. The improved spacer must has a R letter writted on it. Your dealer must ask for this reference: 152C-M69REA-0001
Replace it will take just 5 minutes.✌

Problem solved.
Giant (my local dealer) replace the hub. They also replaced ERGO 3.
The hub looks the same but has other dimension od axle or bearings; (not so loose)
