Hi
Really need some advice on what is the best ebike insurance company in the UK?

I've been on price comparison sites like go compare but not really sure which one to go with.

I've got 2 ebikes worth £16.500 I've looked on some of the threads on here but they weren't much help

Any help would be much appreciated Thanks Mark

Have you checked your house contents insurance? They often will cover bikes as standard, but for only a low amount like £1000. However, if asked they may offer to increase the cover for an additional premium that is a lot cheaper than specialists may offer. Check the terms to see if it gives you what you need.

Take a look at this insurance

OK thanks everybody for your help some really good options there

I took out buildings and contents with MBNA and they cover my 2 bikes up to £5,000 (each), including theft away from home, if that helps.

I've decided to go with cycle plan an affordable option thanks again for all your suggestions

I've been looking into this recently - I notice on a few independent ebike insurers that they say they won't cover any bike that has a motor more powerful than 250W. Most eMTB's have 600W I'm sure so how the hell that's supposed to work I have no idea.

How is the 250W measured?
If it is peak, then you are correct.
But if it is average, then you should be OK.

All the ebikes sold in Europe have to conform to some standard or other (someone will chip in with the correct one), but the key requirement is the power and it's not peak, but average.

600W will be peak power, 250W is nominal power. If its road legal in the UK, then it's 250W for the purposes of the insurance.

Insurers will pay out according to their terms, some have the same wording as EAPC and talk about a 250w rated motor but not all.

e.g. cycle plan says "The electric bike must be driven by human pedal power or electric motor with an output not exceeding 250w/15.5 mph." When I was looking at another insurer the example ebike was some low powered specalized bike with less than 250w peak
