If they could lose the shimano motor ( in favour of a Bosch or DJI) and get rid of headset routing then they will be onto a winner
I'd be keen to see a new Shimano motor developed, or some serious updates to the EP801/EP6 motors to bring them into the same market as everyone else.

It looks like none of those are going to happen this time. Interesting...
I talked to an Orbea employee a couple of months ago when I went to a demo day. He said Orbea is moving away from 'headset routing only' to 'offer both of headset and frame routing'.

Apparently there is a proto Bosch motor in the works

Unless it's a new Shimano motor?
Any info about the Bosch motor? Bosch change motors every 3 years so we should be still far from a new full power unit.

It's still Shimano equipped:

Interestingly it seems some models come with an electronic dropper wired directly to the main battery.

If there are valid engineering issues to be addressed why would Bosch not update the CX?
Know A LOT of gen5 owners, no issues reported so far.
The only "issue" Bosch has is called Dji Avinox :) The form factor of the that motor and battery compared to the power/torque is something Bosch will have to reply to.

Yes of course I am sure some engineering revisions may happen during gen 5 lifecycle (although I have not heard many complaints relating to anything that would need addressing) but when I hear prototype testing I assume brand new flashy new thing i.e. a gen 6 CX or gen 2 SX.

Must be a new gen SX or something? I can't see Bosch updating the CX so soon after release (and after the new power update).
It's a development CX-R that's been used for the world champs etc.

Maybe a test bed for the next gen or just some future software update stuff as its only been used by some of the Pros and the development folk.

Cool, will be interesting to see how much more Bosch can eek out of the gen 5 in order to keep it up to date as the next couple of years progress. I think they will have to revise the batteries at some point though. Etither slimmer versions of the same capacity or fitting more capacity into the current package.

I'm dragging this OT!

Bosch is very conservative with development and will not put out any significant updates to the system in less than 3 years +-
The system today (gen5) is pretty much optimal in terms of performance, it's just the form factor of it which is a problem.
In that regard, it's strange that Bosch didn't hear from their customers (bike brands) ,or heard but didn't care , that a slimmer battery is needed ...

I hate that headset routing so much. Why couldnt they have added a auxilary dowtube port? Just put a plug in it if its not used...Imthinkig of routing a dropper and having to get thru that F---ing headset just to get to the down tube makes me wonder if its woth it..

I wonder if it will be a solid addition or end up some gimicky BS like the headset/bar routing and stem spacer junk.,
