Replacing SC-E500 Display with SW-E600-L

Bike (Orbea kemen SUV 40) comes with SC-E500 that doesnt have any BT connectivity. So i want to replace it with a SW-E600-L switch so i can use the etune/eMax apps to tune the ep6 motor. And likely install a SC-E600 display at a later date.

Is this just a matter of removing and unplugging the SC-E500 and replacing it and plugging the same cable into the SW-E600-L?

Yes, changing the SC-EN500 (without Bluetooth functionality) against the SW-EN600-L control unit with Bluetooth should be possible, see in this compatibilitiy document from Shimano.
However, you also should add the SC-EN600 display instantly , because you will miss a lot of advantages without a "real" display, e.g. a 10 segment battery indicator and the possibility to use the great and new FineTune mode (with up to max. 15 motor settings per profile which only makes sense with this display).
However, take care: If you want to increase max. motor support speed of your DU-EP600 based bike, you need a cable-bound SM-PCE02 interface and the Windows based miniMax - program from eMax-Tuning.

Thanks for your reply and information. I am not a native English speaker, so please try to avoid abbreviations or at least give some explanation. I don´t know what "PAS levels" are.
Also take extreme care when experimenting with the drivetrain settings and changing chainring size or cassetter sprocket sizes! If the real values don´t match the internally programmed values, due to intensive "antituning" algorithms in the Shimano motor firmware of the DU-EP600 or DU-EP801 you easily can get the fatal E295 error and after 4 times the final E299 error which will completely lock your drive unit and you then have to unlock it from Shimano, you have to pay for this and also the warranty is void forever.
You can program your current settings for chainring size and cassette sprocket size already in the licence key free (and so free of charge) version of the Windows based miniMax - program, however, you need the cable bound SM-PCE02 interface for this. You cannot change these drivetrain settings via Bluetooth!
eMax-Tuning is working great with your setting, however, if your motor firmware already is above 4.3.0 and your drive unit is already set to US class 3 currently, then there is no more chance to go faster than 45km/h with motor support, see also in chapter 12 of this document or get in contact with the guys from eMax-Tuning.

Id be going from a 44T chainring to a 38 and from a 11-40 8 spd cassette to a 11 spd 11-46 cassette so it sounds like this could be enough of a change to trigger the 295/299 codes you described.
If the bike is set for class III (28mph) will i need to lower the speed if i change the chainring and cassette?

Thanks for clarification of "PAS", now I am definitely smarter than yesterday.
You don´t need to change max. motor support speed for changing the chainring and cassette parameters in the Windows based miniMax - program.
However, you definitely should do this configuration adjustment soon, because your (real) changes in the drivetrain are massive and so should be identical in the softwarebased configuration of your drive unit to prevent these fatal E295 and E299 errors.
Normally bikers tend to increase to a larger chainring and decrease the smallest rear sprocket size (largest gear) to circumvent the "squirrel cage" feeling with extreme high cadences when going fast (e.g. above 20mph).
However, you seem to go the other way and decrease the size of the chainring and increase the largest sprocket size (smallest gear) on the cassette, so I am wondering why you are doing this?
Do you really need extreme torque on the rear wheel when going slow? This seems like you want to climb Mt. Everest straight and strictly uphill...

From Chapter 12 im not seeing that the option to change the chainring size and cassette settings exists. Not sure if this ends my quest to change the gearing or not. I wish there was a way to the current chainring and cassette settings to see if really need to go thru all this just to upgrade the drivetrain. I found someone who will lend me their PCE02 but im just waiting fomr them to contact me about when i can go get it. Do you know if theres an allowable percentage of range change in gearing before it will trigger the 295/299 codes?

Im changing the chainring & cassette to gain a larger range of gears. And yes for hills b/c this place is hilly. Most of the kemens sold in the US are class Is fitted with 36T chainrings and 10 and 11 spd wide range ie: 11 to 46 cassettes. But mine is sold as a class III but sports only a 8 spd drivetrain with a 44T chainring and a 11-40 cassette. Id like to find middle ground between the two which i think i can achieve w/o taking away to much of the top speed. If i change everything and can still ride around 20 to 25 mph and 20 to 30GI low gear ill be good.

Have the PCE02, and etube app installed on the PC. But i cant seem to find the windows 11 USB driver ill need to use in order to get underway to change the chainring size/gearing using minimax. I tired the shimano site and nothing. Is it a standalone thing, do i even need it or is it part of the etube app?

The mandatory USB driver for the SM-PCE02 interface will be automatically installed on your Windows 11 computer when you are installing the latest version 5.4.2 of the Windows based E-Tube-Project-Professional software from Shimano (see here).

Take care: It is mandatory that the SM-PCE02 interface is disconnected from the computer while you are installing the E-Tube-Project-Professional software, otherwise it may happen that the USB driver will not be properly installed (you will get a dialog window showing this information when installing the program, so don´t ignore this message).

Also take care: The green LED on the SM-PCE02 interface will only be illuminated if there is real data traffic ongoing, so it is pretty normal that this green LED stays dark when you connect the interface to the computer.

If you will send an email to the guys from eMax-Tuning, they will send you all of this information (and most probably much more) within a short time, because they already have prepared this information and already sent millions of times.
