Just tested 2026 Amflow Pl

Just finished my test ride of the cheaper new 2026 Amflow Pl and have to say I wasn't that impressed. It was 22.5kg in XL with the standard trail tyres on and that rear Dissector is dangerous as soon as there's any mud 😮 I currently ride a Specialized Kenevo mulleted with a 29 inch Fox Factory...

In summary, for those of us super interested in the Mith, my stance is that if it can't be derestricted like the Amflow can I will cancel my order as that motor would be impossible for me to live with when trying to get up to any proper trail speed :oops:

Pretty sure you can buy a machined out speed ring for any DJI and essentially derestrict them.

Yeah no worries, I guess up north from what I've ridden there are areas I'd have preferred to have had an unrestricted bike. Where I live now I personally don't see the point.
I've found the resistance way less on the amflow both in standard 29 and mullet compared to my Whyte e160 but not my levo. It's not a deal breaker for me but everyone has their preferences. Hopefully more reviews come out soon.

At current progress there’s not a single bike in the UK so any decent long term review might be a way off.

I’m actually starting to think this bike may actually be mythology given the lack information Unno are providing UK dealers in delivery timescales for the first batch.
 
hmm... not sure what to think after that Loam Wolf review, a faulty shock could likely change the whole feel of the bike.

Guess we still need to wait for the full fat retail reviews, any clues as to when that will be?

None of the UK dealers I’ve spoken to have any current information at all. Unno seem to be saying they will have all “June” bikes shipped by the end of the month and that dealers will be notified when their bikes leave Barcelona. That’s as much as anyone seems to have.

I spoke to Afran Valley Bikeshed and they seemed to know when they were expecting their stock but I guess we can only speculate :unsure:

MBR regularly test just down the road from me, if I just hide in the braken 🧐

Regarding loam wolfs video I found that quite difficult to watch it's like they've tried marmite for the first time.

Any bike these days which hasn't had the sag set correctly is going to ride horrible or that has a suspension issue. Even though the Scottish guy kept emphasis on it's a display bike, I'm not sure they should have released the video.
 
There are a couple of media bikes floating about in the UK, and some physical Forbiddens as well. I haven’t ridden an Amflow, because the bike itself has zero appeal to me, but the Unno & Forbidden were both on my short list.

The Unno was an easier choice for me to sidestep, as I was kind of between sizes on it, & had a good look at the lower linkage area, it is absolutely not going to be UK weather friendly. There is also very little UK dealer support, so when it does go wrong (and it will, because e-bikes) I don’t want to have to drive for hours to get it fixed.

The rider who was testing it, who I know, is very handy on a bike, described it as fast, but exceptionally fussy, which is fine if you’re pushing on all the time & racing, but not actually much fun to ride all of the other times.

The Forbidden was a harder choice, because having had a Dreadnought & a Druid V2, I am a fan of the bikes, but not a fan of the reliability. Let’s just say they are a bit ‘cracky’. I’m also a little bit between sizes on it again, so decided to take a side step.

I’ve now ridden an upgraded Bosch bike, which is a chunky upgrade on the Gen4 CX motor, which is pretty close the DJI.

I agree its very unlikely anyone other than media have a bike, let alone their own bike.

He could be a tester as my local shop mechanic is a tester for Lapierre but it seems weird that Unno would send a retail bike from Spain when even bigger YT'ers are having trouble getting one.
 
As I said, anecdotal, but it was probably the biggest chain of bike shops in the UK. Maybe it was a pre-production?
And yes, there is a warranty, but it’s going to be a battle if you aren’t going to say it broke JRA, how much huck is too much huck?

you reffer to upgrade, like the Gen 5 with the update to 750w / 100 Nm ?


Now back to the Unno, until a big player puts the DJI motor on a bike it will be only stories like this (insert here Crestline / Forbidden etc.) as it's a bit difficult for a small brand to sustain a reliable chain of delivery / warranty / replacements etc.

These boutique bike are amazing on paper, but with the prices they're advertised for (all of them over 10K ) it's a real gamble if it will deliver as planned.

I have to say that after my Amflow XL size test ride I reckon I'm probably going to cancel my pre order of the S3 Race sometime before September :confused:

The main reason is that I don't think I'm going to really notice the 3kg less between my current 25kg Kenevo and the 22kg the S3 Race spec is likely to finish at with pedals as the Amflow at 22.4kg with basic trail tyres didn't seem that different with me being a 100kg rider.

I also think there's a possibility that end users might be prevented from derestricting the DJI motor by a software update or similar down the line with one of the frequent DJI updates and any DJI bike would be useless for me riding against the drag of the limiter I experienced.

Here's hoping the final production bike is reviewed positively from both mainstream media and the normal risers alike and it can be derestricted easily which might make me take delivery.

The increase is to cover the 6% import duty. UNNO are temporarily operating under DAP (Delivered at Place) terms for deliveries to the UK. This means that, while they cover the cost of shipping,, the responsibility for import duties and VAT falls to the buyer. UNNO will refund the import duty & VAT to the buyer prior to delivery. Once the goods are in the UK the buyer then pays the VAT & duty to the courier so the bike can be released from customs to the buyer.

Other DJI products have multiple backdoor ways to get round restrictions etc. I wouldn't be worried about that at all.

I was told August, but I'm not holding my breath.
Suits me though, as have my foot in the door to get one this year, but still time to see how the first batches are received.
As a side note I got mine for £8095, if they try and increase the price to what it's shown for now, again I will cancel.
