Forbidden Druid - Avinox Powered

The fast charger is pretty cheap compared to the one from Specialized (half the price).
True it would be good if this was mentioned or you had the option to add it as an upgrade as it’s a bit stealthy at the moment. I assumed it would just come with the fast charger till I stumbled across it. 10k and then having to buy a charger is a bit Specialized 😁

Agreed, spending enough money that would get you a nice motorcycle and they skimp on a charger is certainly galling.

Same.

I like my bikes, a bit too large. But I'm sort of getting over that lately.

I've reached out to place a hold on an incoming E-Druid core, in size S3.

So this past Monday I had a chance to go to Forbidden’s HQ and chat with them a bit about the eDruid, I also rode their local trails up at Forbidden Plateau along with the trail network at Cumberland. Just before I was there a YouTuber by the name of Brian Cahal rode both versions and put up a video on his channel.

With having just ridden the same trails and having that vivid in my mind knowing how steep and gnarly those double blacks are, I can see why they haven’t made a long travel eDreadnought. It’s extremely impressive just how fast he and Ollie from Forbidden attack that terrain on both bikes.

I currently ride a 2025 Wild setup 180/170mm and had reservations about getting a eDruid because I thought it wouldn’t have enough travel for the riding I do. But after watching this video I’m sold on the eDruid.

And I can’t wait to get one, sadly not for another 4-5 months though….lol

I was at Forbidden’s headquarters today to see the guys. The shop I work at is a Forbidden dealer so I stopped in to say hi. A lot of the guys there are 6’2” and even one of them is 6’4” and they were saying they love the S3 size. At 6’1” I see no reason why you wouldn’t enjoy riding it. Damn, I went off what the LBS recommended. I'm 6'2" and they definitely felt I was an S4....now all this has me worried I'm oversized...

Well, I've got my name on one as well for predicted August delivery.
Tariffs could very well cause issues.

There is a new CXR Bosch motor being announced on May 1st. They say it's lighter. Depending on several factors including how that motor looks, I might still end up with a Regulator with that new motor instead.

Are you positive Transitions putting the new CXR motor in the Regulator?

No. Not at all.

Also, if they do it might only be available in the top spec model, which I never buy as I swap and use all of my own parts.

My opinion however is that Bosch should make the updated motor their standard so as to compete with DJI instead of making it exclusive.

Oh gotcha, because i sell Transition and have heard zero announcements that they would offer the CXR in their bikes.

Yeah I've called around a few shops and seems like the "lite" will be hard to get. the bike shops i've spoken with said that the longer travel core is preferred by most customers. Worldwidecyclery has a few core 1-2 builds left for preorder.

Agreed! Bosch just lost me as a customer. Selling both of my current Bosch bikes and moving over to 2 new DJI motor bikes.

What an odd stance and weird line to draw in the sand…..lol

Because Bosch hasn’t turned the unreleased race motor into their standard motor you are selling you Bosch powered ebikes and will only get DJI bikes?

There’s so many unknowns with DJI, to each their own of course.

I've been riding Bosch Gen 4 Race motors for the past 2 years (10,000+ miles) all in Race Mode and love the motor! Just purchased a new bike with Bosch Gen 5 motor and not enjoying the ride experience without the Race Mode. I'm no longer able to clear uphill rock gardens like I could with my Gen 4 Race motors. The Bosch Gen 5 is a downgrade to the Bosch Gen 4 Race motor. Sucks having to wait until autumn 2025 for the Bosch Gen 5 Race motor. The upcoming power increase will not improve the overrun. DJI has more power, the overrun I want and makes the full power bikes look like SL's. I am taking a chance on reliability.

You do realize the firmware update is about to drop to give your Gen 5 Bosch motor 750wh of power and a 100nm, which is way more than the Gen4 race motor has. You haven’t even ridden the update.

Like I said to each their own, just a weird stance.

The added power is nice. Not upping the overrun is my concern. The update will be in July when both of my DJI bikes are supposed to arrive.

Unless you're crating bikes from overseas that are already on the market, I don't think July is something I would bank on in US. That Pinkbike article made it sound like Forbidden has uncertainty for the US market.

I watched the YouTube with Robb riding the Nicolai w/ Bosch update and it seems like the software update addresses your issues.

All Gen 4 and 5 Bosch will receive EMTB PLus mode with overun update similar to race motors.
When the Gen 4 Race motor came out, I remember hearing about the overrun being larger, with the figure I recall being 2 meters/6 feet, which I think is also the limit imposed by the UCI for e-enduro racing.

Do you know what the max overrun is on a stock Gen 5 motor? Also, if the update gives the Gen 5 equivalent overrun to the Race motor on the EMTB+ mode, what about in the highest power mode? It seems kind of funny if they only allow max overrun in the new EMTB+ but if you go up to the even higher power mode you lose it.

^^^ Everyone moaning about wanting an eDreadnaught and more travel, do you really ride harder than Ollie Forbidden and Brian Cahal? They're railing on 140 or 150 bikes on some demanding trails and don't seem to be held back in any way.
I think you may have it backwards…. It’s because most riders can not ride like them, and require something more forgiving.

^^ That interview simply reinforces my choice. The Core will be more than enough bike for how I am riding these days, and in all probability the Light would have sufficed. I just wanted the bigger battery.

With regard to forgiving, by all accounts (and I qualify this by saying I've never ridden a Forbidden) for 99% of people these bikes will handle most anything that is thrown at them. There are those here who are true downhillers and may benefit from a bigger hitter bike, but as Ollie and Brian have shown, if you have the skill and cahoonas to go hard, these bikes will handle.

Me, I'm still wrestling with the size thing. I am right on the border of S3 and S4.... gunna ring the LBS and have another chat. Damn. Probably too late to change the sizing in my order.

Yeah especially after reading the PB article. Kazimer says he feels like a 50mm length stem would improve balance on the core S3 he reviewed. Mike is 5'11” btw.

I don't think this is a correct assessment, like at all.

It's never because a pro can ride anything that you can. Most of us are not pro, not with prefect technique etc and I can guarantee you that more travel saved me tons of bad situation.

As commoners, with lesser travel, lesser level, we are/need also to be way slower.

Yes we could all be better rider but it is what it is.
