I have an eone sixtty 9000 merida I tried to put a speed chip and it's now giving me an error e299 because of this error now it's put the bike into safe mode and disabled the pedal assist

This is my first ebike mate I'm all new to this bit this merida can't be hard reset

You need take it to Shimano. They might reset it for you. But they might not as well. But you will have voided your warranty. Shimano is extremely against tampering with their speed limit, because they can be held accountable if customers can circumvent it.

You cannot speed chip the Shimano EP6 or EP801 motor. You will brick the motor every time. The only way to increase the speed limit is to change the region using the EMax software. I have set my Merida E160 to USA Class 3, giving me 45kph speed limit.

So first thing. Do not tell Shimano you tried to speed chip it. Say you replaced the rear wheel and used a different magnet. This has been known to create the E299 error.

Secondly. The bike should have produced E295 Errors first before giving the E299. In future. If you get E295 errors. Stop. Put back whatever change you made that started causing the errors.

That doesn't clear the error log. It's stored in Non-Volatile Memory. Depending on the type of NVM used, it could take 12 months or more of being disconnected from any power source, before the memory is wiped. And if you did that. You'd probably lose the Firmware as well, and the Memory would need to be reflashed.

There is no known way to clear the E299 Error, other than taking it to Shimano. It requires a special device that only Shimano have.

If I change the motor will that remove the error I'm thinking about buying a new shimano motor
