The bike has 3000km on it and is well out of warranty. I've started to notice a new issue: When pedalling on the flat it feels like I often have about a quarter of a rotation of free stroke in the crank before it engages. This feels pretty disconcerting but other than that the motor seems to be working normally. Is this a known issue and what can cause it?

Thanks

I don't think so, as I'm turning the crank the chainring isn't actually moving

Freehub knackered 🤔
That was my first thought also. A technician at your local Bike Shop may be able to diagnose the issue quickly and eliminate the usual suspects.…speed sensor, rotor magnet, internal motor issue etc.

The motor has a POE (point of engagement), but that may not be obvious while turning the crank. A loose chainring or castle nut is unlikely, (that would be too easy).

It would be helpful hear what you found.
