My last bike was a Trek Remedy 8 back in 2020 which served me very well!

Been looking at EMTB for a while and it came down to Trek or Cube but the local bike shop being Trek swayed me as it’s just around the corner so any issues won’t be a faff.

I know the Rail 5 is the base model but as far as bikes go it’s still decent?

Feel like I’ve been out of the loop on bikes as I’ve just been happy with my Remedy 8 for 5 years.

Thoughts? My only disappointment in the Trek was that unlike the Cube the the battery charge is still just a basic meter where as on the Cube it was a small screen which gave you a lot of info.

Bike should be here next week 😁

Cheers …and congrats.

The Rail 5 is a great choice …but beware, you could still catch upgrade-initis. In fact you probably will. I’ve got it real bad. My 2020 Rail 9.7 is not the same bike I purchased. Apparently there’s no cure. 😉

You are cured when there's nothing left to upgrade. :)

Yes.. before the Remedy I went Marlin 5-XCalibre 7 and then Remedy 8 all within the space of about 4 months.

However the difference between spending on those bikes around £500-£2000 on those bikes feels like an oceans distance to £5000 on a bike 😂

A buddy and I just went to the local Bike shop to look at the latest Trek Rail’s. $12g with the light-weight 800wh battery …he just ordered one.

I’m embarrassed to tell anyone how much $$$$ in my bike.…I usually start talking about the weather.

So should just spend the £12k now on the best and say it’s done? 😂
Opinions widely vary about what is "best".

For example some are Fox fanbois whereas some are Rockshox fanbois. Some are cable fanbois, some are wireless fanbois.

And so on.

I think I’m just going to enjoy my first EMTB experience and forget about what’s the best.

I do wish the new Trek Rail gen 5 came with the updated LED screen for battery monitoring etc.

The bike shop said that they expect them to be available to fit anytime soon.

Extra cost though no doubt 😭

The new kiox 400c display comes out in August, I fitted a purion 400, it sits under the bars and gives all the info you need

The Trek is a good e-bike. My neighbor has one now. I like how easy his battery is to remove. Mine...not so much.
