YT SL ebike

That's fair, I have never ridden a fazua, and the only one I have seen in the wild seems to have lasted long. But there are some serious horror stories on this forum.

But my issues go beyond the reliability. Why are YT charging twice the price for the SN when it will have so much less power and range then the decoy? I know this isn't specific to YT.

I rode a 70Nm Shimano motor for 5 years with a 504wh battery. After 3-4 years and 10,000km, on a cold wet winter's day the battery would not last an hour in the top assistance mode. Considering these SL bikes have such small non replaceable batteries that are going to be cycled frequently, I think they will age very poorly.

I have had 2 YTs, but looks to me like they are coming out way too late to the party with this.
The battery is not "non replaceable" you will still be able to remove the battery and replace it when it dies. it just means dropping the motor to do so. its just not quickly replaceable is all. same with the SC Heckler SL. SC and YT chose to do an internal battery like specialized does. internal batteries are more involved to replace but not irreplaceable.

I also think they are going to eventually release an aluminum version. Probably as a core 1. In the youtube live they kept referring to it as the Decoy SN CF. I figure they will come out with a Decoy SN AL eventually.

Don’t know the details but it’s worth mentioning in regards to the battery talk that YT claims on their website that they are using a “YT Custom Battery”

Ok nice. Was just referring to whatever this means:

It has me worried it might not be easy to drop in a standard replacement if needed.

Right on cue, PB weighs the Pro full power e-bikes and they average around 25 Kilos/ 55#s.

So as some pointed out, you really can NOT get a proper full power Enduro e-bike that only weighs 21 Kgs/ 46#s.

Also worth noting, most are running the smaller battery options.

I think it's very light given that equal specced KSL (like my own custom one) would be 20kg inc. pedals, and this mid-power models are 2x as powerful with 50perc. more range that's very fair trade-off.
I want to personally believe the same as Suns_SPD with mid-power being the true future winner but I am not so sure given the SL unpopularity among e-crowd. Once you try how ridiculous powerful full-fats are, it's hard to scale back. I am only happy with SL because I compare it with non-ebike in my head only :- ).

If I didn't already have and still loved my KSL, this would be my bike of choice instead. Enduro-build and mid-power, imho, winning combination but we'll see how it fares in market esp. now when systems like the DJI were anounced.

How loud is the Fazua60 system?

Kind of frustrating that they have a release with no bikes to ship. October our season is about done

The geo figures are interesting. They look like a tweaked Capra.

only problem with that DJI system is that it literally was just announced. its gonna be a few years before you start seeing it on other bike manufactures and the Amflow brand DJI launched for it is only gonna be available in the UK, Germany, and Australia and not tell Q4 of this year.

YT are already running 500€ OFF on all Decoy SN models, so I assume these doesn't sell like hot cakes.
That doesn't mean much. For one YT is always having some kind of sale on their bikes. 2 it's a slower market bike sales wise across the board with every brand. 3 the new decoy isn't even available yet. I am sure once they become in stock more people will pull the trigger.

So anyone here pick up a Decoy SN? YT have a decent sale on atm. I'm tempted but I'm struggling with the thought of buying a Fazua bike. Motors appear to be made of glass.

We have a guy that occasionally rides with our group that bought one a few months ago, he’s waiting on motor #4 now. He just had motor #3 installed and it lasted about 30 miles🤣😂 he’s attempting to get YT to refund it now, he doesn’t even want it anymore. It’s a great bike when it works but his has been broken more than he’s actually ridden it.

That is grim. What is the process for motor replacement with YT? Do they just post it out to you and you install it yourself or do you have to ship the bike back or bring to a Fazua service partner?

He’s using a local shop that’s a Fazua service centre, they’re a SC dealer. Fazua pays for the warranty work, he drops his bike off with them and they take care of it. He waited for a month for motor #3 and it’s been 2 weeks for motor #4.

it's really a crapshoot. I ride with someone that has a SN and has had no motor issues. he also had a SC heckler SL and had no issues either.

Having read a bit more I can’t imagine myself pulling the trigger on a Fazua bike. I think the stress would end me.

Anything floating around in regards to a new full fat from YT? Surely it’s time the full fat decoy got a refresh?

Rumour has it they’re switching their full fats to Bosch so something new is coming, I couldn’t tell you when though.

Stock and size options on the decoy are getting low so it cant be long now.
Ive told a few friends about the current deals on the decoy mx and it didnt take them long to buy one after comparing

I actually emailed YT to ask about a new full fat and they replied something along the lines of "we only just refreshed the current Decoy please subscribe to the newsletter to hear about new launches". Only recently updated one I remember is the Core 2 which got an EP801 and Marx suspension. Feel like they refreshed that to get rid of whatever frames and Shimano stuff they had left.

They cleared out a lot of stock o with the recent sales and most sizes/models show not available until May/June/July so really not sure what the plan is. Maybe they'll show something at Sea Otter.

New Full 29er Decoy SN. I guess they really are all in on Fazua.

If it proves to be more reliable than at the start it would be the perfect light E-mtb. Enough battery to avoid range anxiety but still around the 20kg mark, balanced geometry, good specs 👌

It takes a lot of money and effort to swap drive systems that some after release. I’m sure when it comes time for a refresh they’ll rethink it or maybe by then Fazua will have a reliable-ish motor.

I’m curious on the 29er. I have a 29er Capra and would love a matched 29er decoy sn. Increase the stroke and fork to match.

I'm going to go ahead and say, this will probably be my next ebike. I'm not currently in the market for a new one, but I will more than likely have one at some point. I like the way YT bikes ride, and this one is the best to date. I will wait a year or two and pick up a core 2 for 5k and be happy.
Well true to my word I wound up picking up one of these recently when YT had incredible deals. With the sale and a random discount code I was able to buy a core 2 for $3800.

I don't have alot of miles on it yet but I can say it rides just as I expected, REALLY well. It seems to roll really fast as well. I'm not sure if its the bike or the kryptotals but it gains speed really well. One thing for sure though, the rear enduro casing kryptotal is not as stiff as a DD or DH Maxxis tire. I was running 30PSI in the rear and it still rolled when pushed into a hardpacked berm. I almost lost it when that happened. I will definitely have to look at either upgrading casing or adding cushcore.

I've never got a new bike that I didn't want to immediately upgrade when I brought it out of the box. It's really well speced and I'm very happy with it. I have some other parts that I already have I'll swap in and see if I like it, but I'm really happy with the bike as it. I just like to tinker.
