Looks like Forbidden is dropping some eBikes in 2025 and have been testing the DJI motor. Thought that's pretty exciting as its a local brand for me and we sell them at the shop I work at. A little disappointed to read they might only have a 600wh battery but I'll wait till there's more information available.

When I posted the link it was more about the Forbidden ebikes. But since you asked, not everyone wants wireless drivetrain. I have the latest T-type and I’m actually switching back and a cable drivetrain with Shimano linkglide.

The appeal of T-type is the system is designed to be shifted under load better than the older drivetrains including the cable actuated stuff along with the older AXS.

But isn't the shifting under load a direct consequence of the electronic shifting? It's supposedly shifting at an optimum time, which is antithetical to a direct cable actuated design.
 
That website is not a legitimate source of information, however, the Forbidden is coming with the DJI motor, as seen by Owens instagram post on it. Everything else written in that article I would take with a pinch of salt

I really hope they offer a 800wh battery, especially considering the power of that DJI motor.

Here, Here. Let me just add my 8 year old Di2 Shimano derailleur is the best derailleur I've ever used, I've warrantied 1 AXS (300 miles) on my Pole and have had constant adjustment problems with 6-9 gears, adjusting is easy takes a couple minutes, requiring a little then a little more. The Di 2 powered by the main battery, displays what gear you in, over 2500 miles on the second derailleur never requiring adjustment, and it's decade old tech. Not a fan of AXS, thus far.

The benefits of t-type for me is the strength of the mounting system. There should be no more derailleur hanger issues or adjustments, just tough. I personally prefer a cable shifter. To each their own.

140/ 150 travel is squarely in the trail bike category, as such 600 watts is appropriate.

Now the E-Dreadnaught should certainly run the 800-watt battery due to steeper terrain and less weight sensitivity.

I'm starting to hone in on my next e-bike and the E-Druid is definitely on my short list. Look forward to seeing the real specs and details.

I'm drooling over the DJI drive, not impressed with Amflow in one respect, the frame is not stout enough for real banging, at 70 I can't really bang much anymore, I love my Orbea wild limited, almost too much bike for me, my review is "rewards decisive riding, punishes indecision".
However 1000 watts for 30 seconds and 105 NM in boost, yeah baby!

Other more experienced brands are testing the DJI drive as we read. The Bosch race motor is great noticeably stronger than the CX, but DJI is pushing the industry, the response is surely underway already.

Reminds me of when motorbikes all became 200+ bhp, however none of the riders could use more than 90 :)

The lack of 800WH battery is sad. Before that,....Take my money PLEASE. I just haven't seen the SL benefit. Greatly reduced assistance/range paired with a huge price premium and minimal weight loss. The used bike market tells me people feel the same after purchasing an SL. They are everywhere for sale both new and used. (in the states)

I had linkglide installed on 21 turbo levo pro, about 500 miles ago, it's starting to jump cassette gears in the same middle gears as all the other drives, 3X the service life....can't prove it by me, at least it's less expensive.

The battery useage stats coming from DJI are a bit concerning. We might have a situation where a Gen 5 Bosch 600 w might travel just as far as a DJI 800 w. Which entirely removes the 2/3# weight advantage of the DJI motor itself.

Still not clear from the various reviews out there.

You’ll never get a proper comparison until you try it yourself. There are too many variables, I used to go out with a group on my 360wh rise, yes I was slower on the climbs but I could switch off on the flats and would manage 60k distances. So far on my 800wh amflow I have been very impressed with the battery life and distance/climb, last ride was 50k with 1800m climbing on a wet soggy cold ride over Dartmoor ending with 20%

I have both and it’s not concerning.

We might have a situation in which my Nomad might travel just as far as my Amflow. Which definitely does not remove the weight advantage.

You’re removing assistance from the equation.

On my Amflow I have a custom / beta app, that allows setting max watts in each mode. In Turbo with it set at 850 watts, its both much faster than my Bosch Gen 5, but uses battery so much quicker (for obvious reasons!). In Trail I have it set at 600w and lower Nm (this pretty much matches the Bosch in terms of power and feel).

The feature of the mega power on Amflow results in the battery getting used really quickly, but, dial it down to Bosch level (600w) and then its actually quite close.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that its all just physics: more power = more battery drain. I dont think there's *that* much difference in the efficiency between the two motors.
 
The trail with 140/ 150 travel Lyric version has a 600-watt battery and weighs about 44#s.
The All Mountain version with 150/ 160 travel Zeb version has an 800-watt battery and weighs about 50#s. If this weight is accurate (other Forbidden's seem to come in heavier than advertised), it's impressive. For example, the Vala weighs 50#s but with a 600-watt battery.

I actually have all of the relevant info on these bikes but am not at liberty to share specifics online.

I will tell you that I was prepared to place a deposit on one this past weekend, but the dealer wanted 100% payment up front, for a 4th quarter delivery, so I passed, for now.

Also, the Trump tariffs might very well be devasting to Forbidden, tbd.

That's really good to know. Thanks for that.

Bosch needs to offer their race motor with the reduced weight and the extra power, right away to compete.

That would be the E-Dreadnaught to come later.

The high pivot bikes are known to perform will they have more travel than they do.

It'll ride at least like my 160/ 160 Relay, which works well for me.

Do you feel confident Forbidden will be able to sell in US by the end of the year (genuinely curious)? We have yet to see the Amflow in the US.
