Thoughts on the coil on the E160 7k 2024
Definitely lost a small amount of pop; but what I gained was worth it.
Still trying to get confident on jumps and I took a touch of air pressure out of the Fox X2 about a fortnight ago and jumping went to shit, just felt off balance a lot, wasn't comfortable at all. Some of the bigger jumps I am used to I had a bad run with and rocked my confidence abit.
Went out today and still lacked that confidence abit but the coil was way more consistent hey. It didn't sometimes feel like it wanted to kick or have me go off balance and dead sailor. It was just really consistent and predictable. Actually found it easier to bunnyhop smaller sections of trail because of the upper mid stroke support vs having the air running lower PSI to try and get that inital off the top suppleness the coil just inherently has built it.
Overall it was really good. Very small trade in off the lip pop for a much more consistent feel with better damping and the rear feeling like it was just tracking so much more consistently.
Very impressed, wouldnt go back to air unless it was a short travel trail bike on a smooth flow trail.

Any chance you recall the shock dimensions? Some good pricing on DHX2s at the moment, and still waiting delivery of my new 10K so don't have it on hand to measure the shock.

A question about firmware update.
E-tube Project shows my bike's EP801 firmware is 4.3.
According to Shimano, the latest firmware is 5.3.2
I tried to update but E-tube Project (connected) says 'no updates available' for my bike
Shimano are saying online: 'New firmware is free to all EP801 bike owners. Update the E-TUBE Project Cyclist with the newest firmware (Version 5.3.2), If you need help, visit your local Shimano Dealer'
Am I missing something?

My Merida eOne Sixty with ep8 motor has been sat in my garage for almost 5 weeks (yes, I know, don't judge me! 
) The main battery was at just under 60% charge when I left it. I went to check on the bike yesterday and pressed the power-on button. The display came on for a second then went black. I tried again, same thing. That has never happened before to either of my previous Shimano motors, but then I've never left them standing for so long before either. I had read on here that there is a re-chargeable battery in the power-on switch that can go flat if left for too long. I had also read on here that if you remove a rubber plug on the top face of the down tube and poke through with a narrow screwdriver you can switch on the battery. Am I correct with both of those?
Anyway, it was cold and I'd had a brew so instead I put the bike on charge for 30 mins. It was in the hope that it might recharge the power-on battery and/or reset anything else that may have gone wrong.
Whatever it was, it worked! All is now well.
So, file that away for whenever it happens to you.

Hiya Steve, Happy New Year. Yes, you are correct! You can also lock the chainring to the cranks with an allen key in one of the fixing bolts and spin the wheel backwards rapidly for a few seconds to send enough charge into the on/off button battery to get you away again. This is the 630Wh that comes with the 2023 e-160 and you can see a power on switch located near the bottom, on the side that faces into the frame. I've wondered about it - assumed the battery was designed for a different bike. I also have a 2021 e-160 with 504 Wh battery. Both are demountable, unlike the 2024 model. (I need demountable). Not sure if the power-on swith has its own battery - I assume yes. I recently replaced the battery in my Levo SL power-on switch. On the pre-2023 (or 24?) Meridas there's a blanking plug on the downtube below the bottle cage fixings. You can stick something in there to power up the battery using the switch you've shown above.
BTW, can I recommend a battery bag from Amazon that perfectly fits the 630Wh battery? Had to return a couple before finding this one.

But as I said it was miserable cold and I'd had a brew. I would have checked it the following day. Just trying to get reassurance before doing so. But I put it on charge for 30 mins instead and it worked.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but you can put a transparent plug in that hole. Then you can see the battery light flashing whilst it's charging. I use this to recharge the bike to 80% after ever ride. ( 4 flashes is about 80%) Rather than 100%. Then only charge to 100% when I'm going on a long ride. And only then, do it the night before.
Leaving the battery for long periods at 100% charge, is not the best way to treat a LiPo Battery.

Just don't like the tight berms on Peril! Deliverance used to be a great, decently long and racey section and we'd always end up completely knackered when we reached Redemption but not any more, at least not at my very lowly skill level

Yep, eOne Sixty 700, October 2021, 1800 miles, slightly modified. I love the thing but treat it like a baby after all the Shimano EP8 horror stories. She never gets wet washed, only dry cleaned next day. I do occasionally take the wheels off and squirt them though.

A note to those with shorter legs and the older style eONE-Sixty with the factory mudguards - For ages I thought my battery cover or motor were loose - every time I landed a jump or went down some really chunky trail, I got a plastic thwacking sound that made me very nervous.
Turns out, I had hit the rear mudguard with my bum on impact while either jumping or descending and instead of tyre buzz, I forced the guard to contact the tyre and it split the guard.
The sound I was experiencing was the split mudguard flapping about when there was sufficient impact.
Took it off and I haven't had an issue since.

Question for e160 700 owners:
Are the wheels tubeless ready? i.e. are they pre-taped?
Having just received my tubeless kit from Peaty's I would rather not have to tape the rims, and simply crack the tyre, pull the tubes and insert the valves, then reseat the tyres, fill up with sealant and blow them up.

You were lucky that the split mudguard didn't pinch your man bits and not let go! Yikes!
I had the same clearance problem on my 29er Focus Jam2, but my mudguard didn't split. My mullet eOne-Sixty is just the job, zero clearance issues, and no need for a mudguard to stop tyre buzz.

Do we have any other new 675 owners? Currently waiting on delivery of a 10K for myself (hopefully next week), and just collected a 675 for my wife today. It only came with a single box with a battery charger in it, nothing else. This is my 20th dual suspension bike over the years, and 4th eBike, and I have never received a bike without any form of manuals or extras etc. Anyone recently collected a 675 and can confirm if I should have received a box of bit n pieces and manuals? Just want to be sure before I hassle the bike shop. Main thing I believe I should have received is a "Trail Mount" tool strap for attaching stuff to the extra tool bosses. The Merida info I have found online suggests that it should be included with every eOne-Sixty.

FINALLY my turn, after a 6 month odd wait for my order. Haven't modded too much yet, RaceFace Era carbon bar, changed the headlight out for the next tier up 1000 Lumen Lezyne (haven't compared it at night yet against the wifes 675 that still has the same model headlight this came with, so not sure yet if much improvement, have better stand alone lights for real night time jaunts), bought a Granite strap for the tool mounts under the top tube while I wait for a CrankBrothers SOS strap to arrive (Granite one will then move to the wife's 675), Rockstop frame guard, full frame/fork wrap, and Galfer pads. Still trying to decide whether to swap the saddle for my usual staple of a Selle SMP Well but finding this one pretty comfy albeit slightly short. Now I just need to make space to hang it!
If you don't have a split race or the crown race removal tool you can use the hammer plus razor blade method. It has worked for me several times, but of course be careful with yourself and don't blame me...

I finally ran out of trust with the Shimano SLX rear hub at 1800 miles, it loosened itself three times that I can remember, so when the cassette and chain needed renewing I treat the wee beastie to some Halo wheels. Never did like black anyway.
Really like the new wheels.
I'm also a fan of the look of the Bomber CR coil, too. How's it been, compared to the original air shock?
