Yesterday I removed and serviced the freehub on both my:
Rail 7, and
Fuel EX8 g5.
Both had the identical freehub, and both have 6 pawls, so obviously I was wrong.
Sorry for the marginal pic... not grit in pic, fresh grease sparkling in the light I suppose. Post cleanup, about to install:

Yea majority of Trek's medium to higher level bikes will have "rapid drive 108" in the hub/wheel specs. 6 pawls, 108 points of engagement. Its very common to find and easy to tell POE with a simple spin of the wheel.

Good wheels, one of my friends got some on his slash
Upside is the rapid drive hub is easy to service with standard bearings and any Trek shop should have old hubs to cannibalize some parts. The HG, Microspline, and XD drivers are readily available.

Downside is the new Line Comp rims are lower profile and pinned-sleeve design which is a downgrade from the previous welded, high-profile rim. In years past the Line Comp OE wheels also had a tendency to break spokes, though it seems they have improved QC because I have not seen that issue much the past year or two. The Al rims are a little soft, I have folded the bead socket flat on a couple Line comp rims, but have been able to straighten them for use with tubes. I have not seen any stress cracking at the spoke holes even after several thousand miles of hard riding.

I have a pair of Line Pro (for racing) and Kovee Pro (for bio-bike) wheels that are both excellent wheels for the money.

So far the LineComps have been just fine for me. Although I do a bit of racing, and like to ride in the rocks, I am 67 and weight 140 lbs... and am fairly cautious to be able to ride another day.

Gosh, maybe pinned-sleeved rims have come a long way, as I true my rims with a dial indicator but have not noticed that extreme mis-match at the "rim-ends" that we typically get with p-s rims, see pic below.

No broken spokes yet, but anytime I remove a wheel for any reason, I put it on the truing stand and adjust it back to within .010" runout max.

QUESTION if you don't mind... If I wanted to mount my XT 12 spd microspline cassette to a DT Swiss wheel that I have laying around, what freehub would I need.

You would need a DT microspline freehub that matches the DT hub design that you have, e.g. hugi ratchet vs spring&pawl. Determine the design and then research availability.
