SZZS specific CEF50-main thread (initial builds and troubleshooting related only)

It's happen yesterday on a small drop. I finally break my bike but this time it's only my headset cup. Lucky I have a spare Hope headset. My headset cup but my carbon frame has no damage. Can I say SZZS does make some quality carbon.

Hey folks, while I wait for my frame to ship, I want to do all I can to be fully prepared to build when this sucker finally shows up. First off, I've seen the issues some have had with their linkage fasteners. Over the last week I've read through this entire thread, but I don't recall anyone stating the actual sizes so that I can source them. I'm looking at Ti, but will consider a more robust Al or even steel options. I certainly want to replace the fasteners circled in red below, but I am also interested in upgrading the ones in yellow. Does anyone know the full specs of these fasteners so I can get some on order? Thanks!

Since you're in the US, I used Huk-Tek: engineered bike hardware out of Michigan.

He modified the mating bolts with thicker heads and larger threads to match the custom pins (thru-bolt) so my specs are specific to the custom hardware. I went with Ti, super expensive due the pin cost which was most of metal used.

I recommend keeping the OEM AL pins and just having Derrick match them to Aluminum or steel mating bolts (don't know if he'll do steel, Plus, Al might be a better choice with existing Al pins).

I recommend a good digital caliper to measure accurately. Just work with Derrick directly for sizing specs needed. Good Luck!

What's the lower cup look like? If it punched the upper like that, I can only assume it hurt the lower. I can't imagine how the upper would move if the lower didn't?
Honestly I didn't check the lower cup as it's glue to the frame and lazy to punch out and check. Plus I already has experience how it feel like before it break. My headset screw keep losing on my last few ride so I keep tighten it. Before it break u will feel the headset knocking or the headset cup cover move.

Tommy, I'm just down the road from you in Dallas and finished my CEF50 a couple of months ago so feel free to DM if you want to chat or need help putting it together. I had to buy a lot of single purpose tools so maybe I can help you there also. The only bolts I'm aware of that can be replaced via AliExpress are the two bolts for the rear shock. The others are apparently custom but well made from the factory. I did get those bolts for the shock not because I needed them but because they added a bit of color and they were like $6 each on Ali.

You have a link to them on Ali?

Hi. could you explain what you do to use GARMIN edge with BAFANG ? I have an edge explore 2, i have validated screen "metrique du velo electrique", but nothing displayed ? i need to valid "telephone" before (not done for my use)?
Bonjour chef, i didnt paired it with the bike, i only use it as a GPS. Sorry for the late reply.

While I wait for my frame, I’m trying to comfort myself by assessing the growing parts pile. Still have a lot to acquire, but it’s getting there!

Hi, like you, I'm also waiting for my frame, I can't wait for it to arrive and from time to time I take a look at the various components I have at home. I hope it arrives soon. I'm expected to arrive between 15/30 November. Here are some photos of the components. I posted the wheelset.
I saw some beautiful buildings here.
For me this is the first Ebike but I have 2 Road bikes 4 MTB which cover all

Hi,
like you, I'm waiting for the frame, I think the arrival coincides with your timing.
I've seen some beautiful buildings.
Like you, every now and then I look at the components that will distinguish it because there will not be a Cef 50 the same, they will all be Limited Editions.
Here is part of my build.

Can you run a display with the dp e171 button in the frame? Or would it all just be on the button

Thanks.
Do you think It will work with the Bafang motor?
That's the good question. important on forums to differentiate those who "know" because they had really doing and those who would that another will been beta tester of they thinking. :sneaky:

Hi all, Assembly complete… :) few issues like fitting battery into the tube way too thight in there :)
I have strange crackling noise only in the highest 12speed (XT Shimano) gear when turning over, especially right crank…. Tried thightening all motor and crancks screw still the same…but only in the highest gear? Anyone has a solution?

My 12speed Sram GX Transmission cassette (XS-1275) needed the chain stain slightly 'polished' to make room for the chain otherwise it would hit the stay and make a noticeable sound.

Crackling for me comes around the motor and cranks and only highest gear as new setup only took it for 30km quick test spin so far.

It was the main pivot bolt that fits into the rocker arm near the top shock mount. It was 8 mm too short amazingly. 👇

I eventually broke the mating bolt mid-ride but was able to ride it back to my truck with no damage, but marred up the paint a little at the pivot joints of the stays due to lopsided slack creating friction points. So, I found out the correct size and had both Ti pin/bolt custom made, in a weekend luckily.👍

No problems since (7 of 8 months). SZZS eventually sent a warranty replacement pivot pin/bolt assembly that I've kept on hand as a spare. Just poor quality control and I didn't have reason to pull the linkage bolts to check them all out prior.

I posted the whole story in our thread last June or July for pics and further details. 👊
Do you have screw sizes specs and even better where to order them as quality of screws is bad, even with new shipped frames (got mine 2 weeks ago) and threads are already gone on some from working on them.

Do you have size specs for all of them?
