Pic of the Day

(Re)fitted my mudrocker a few weeks back, which generally works well, but even this wasn’t enough for the North Yorkshire moors yesterday … rode the route from Lordstones I did with some of you guys in mid-August (27 miles, 3600ft) and significant parts of it were a mudfest. A very different and harder ride, but I felt okay at the end so my Covid is (like the mudrocker…) definitely behind me 😊

Whoa there Jack ..😲
Are you trying to tell me you have the only pair of Sealskinz socks that actually work ? 😁
I've had multiple pairs along with Dexshell & Gekowear over the years and not a single pair have worked for any length of time ..
I don't bother at all now ..preferring to wear Woolie Boolie socks by De Feet..
made from Merino Wool they soak through almost immediately ..but then warm up ..whereas I've always found once a waterproof socks "let's in" they are bloody cold as the water pools inside the socks..
No idea as to which boots to recommend though 🤔

Lol, maybe I've been lucky or else my feet were numb when the socks leaked 😁

Corgarff area today with Drummond,, dry but very windy on top 720 mtrs. We never met a soul all day. It makes you think how long would you lie if you were alone and hurt . As usual PLB and survival bag was in shed at home. Passed a couple of nice huts for the shooting lads . Hopefully the wild boar and bear were not shot nearby. The stats look good but add another 3 hours for photo shoots and checking the maps on phone due to being in an unfamiliar area. The colour tree pics are at Candacraig house The Big Yin used to live there.

New 5:10 Goretex boots matched with SealSkin socks (or equivalent, I use Planet X ones, must be about 5 years old) matched with trousers, not shorts—and Dry feet for the whole ride.

I got Leatt hydradry 7 boots just under a year ago looked the business but not really waterproof so not worn much to be honest I go through some puddles and round others. Out last week when taking off the zip went. Sent back shop had really nothing I wanted so decided on M500 waterproof trousers in sale £99 only pair they had was xxl so fingers crossed they're not too big.

All is not lost if they are ..get yourself on a diet of Aunt Bessie's Apple Crumble & Rhodda's Classic Cornish Clotted Cream ..
One a day for the next month should do the trick !😁

That looks like a child's portion you have there.
Finally! Someone with the courage to post a pic of Apple Crumble Pie.🙏
I don’t know about that clotted cream stuff though. 🤔. Vanilla Ice Cream or Coconut Whip for the win. 😋

(Slightly distracted) I’m in my second pair of these Shimano boots. I busted my first pair (toe box) while my foot was inside so I got these size 43 (9) with a slightly wider toe box. Spd capable and kinda waterproof.

I use these 6-7 months of the year. Of course I use the traditional high black cotton sock. Dry feet 🦶 matters.

I got. Home grown cooking Apples from a friend last week so made a crumble for the first time. Never touched the side two helpings all round. Still to find a water proof boot besides a good old welly.
To quote a well known Scottish comedians song.

I had a pair of 5 ten gortex boots and wore them with various claim to be “waterproof socks”….waste of time and money plus the boots were bloody sods get on and off, looked good but nowhere near measured up to the hype. ☹️

Leather boots and a pair of ankle gaiters are pretty good . I reckon ebike and big tires a lot more miles etc some boots just don't cope. Lot of water coming of front tyre as well. Time for the Ebike winter boot to be invented.

Oh hell 😳
That fact that it's an "E" boot will add at least fifty quid to the true cost ...

Agree with you guys about this but I found a solution thanks to a guy I met in Sutherland in some pretty foul weather. We were moaning about the state of the ground and I mentioned that my Adidas 5 ten boots just don't stand up to Scottish weather . He said I was waisting my money on these expensive shoes when he just used a pair of Peter storm Buxton boots that cost 35 quid! Not biking boots but walking boots , mid length. We rode all day together and at the end his feet were dry and toasty , mine soaked and bloody freezing!! Next stop go outdoors in Inverness and I got a pair! Used them over 10 times now in some really mucky trails( as binhill will confirm, moray trails this time of year are pretty filthy and wet) and they are fantastic!! Only my opinion but I'm sold !! Comfy , waterproof so far although I have used Nik wax on them too when they were new as recommended by my mucker. Sole stands up well to my flat pedals and their spikes plus bonus is if you need to walk they are super grippy walking boots too!! Seem to be holding up well to the abuse too.!

Naah ..I saw the real thing on the Division Bell Tour at Earls Court , London on a VIP ticket ..a few years later saw The Australian Version at ( what was then known as ) The Metro Radio Arena, Newcastle doing " The Wall" ..they were OK but the lead guitarist was no David Gilmour ..his new album " Luck & Strange" by the way is excellent and his collaboration with his daughter Romany on the track " Between Two Points " ..played a few times daily at the moment ..
Hope you enjoyed it 😁😉

Good show I've seen them 6 times couple of changes in band since last year . Would have loved the real Floyd though i must admit. Scooter next Wednesday with wife she has insisted on standing so be interesting. Take my zimmer maybe.

Pink Floyd, proberly my favourite band. Saw them at Wembley stadium a good few years ago. Also saw a tribute band called Think Floyd three times in Barnstaple, and saw the Australian pink Floyd two years ago at Swansea. 👍
