Looking to take the family to the Alps. Bit of cycling bit of hiking. So looking for somewhere with a train station and ski lifts. Easy blue/green mountain bikes routes not black runs. Or just family cycling stuff. Ideally somewhere a little quieter than the big ones my fellow Brits seem to congregate to.

I’d like to be able to get the Eurostar / train and hire bikes there.

France, Austria, Italy? Not looking to spend a fortune and will need to feed 3 kids.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

If Austria is on your radar, check out Schladming-Dachstein. It’s got great rail connections, plenty of gentle cycling routes, and stunning hiking paths. It’s also budget-friendly compared to some of the more famous Austrian resorts.

Thanks for the suggestion sounds promising. Will check it out 👍

A bit more crowded but very nice area - Ötztal in Tirol, Austria. Lots of flowtrails in Sölden and a brilliant hiking area in the villages Obergurgl and Vent not far away.

I would highly recommend the Dolomites. Arraba, Albergo Gusthof Pordoi, in particular and the Limitt bike shop for rentals. Train to Bolzano then a shuttle with Basecamp. Road/Gavel and (e)MTb with lifts and many trails to choose from.
