Whilst the Light Bee L1E bike is sold as road legal, it just says it complies to European stands, but says nothing about what type of licence you need to ride it, and how to tax, MOT and insure it. All the other bikes are sold without a hint that using them in public is illegal, and this example says how good it is on 'trail and track'. the use of the word 'trail' hints at ok to use on public land. Trails in the UK are generally classified as Byways Open to All Traffic, Other Routes with Public Access, Restricted Byways, Bridleways, and Footpaths. All public access land and the laws apply to all of them.
Not only is there no hint, one Sur Ron dealer has a video on it's website, where they are riding on 'their local demonstation track' which of course is actually privately owned (not by them) open heathland and an SSSI. What hope is there?

This forum is an experienced bunch for the most part, what we're talking about here is the changing landscape of personal transportation beyond automobiles. I for one am tir'd of government in my life. They're everywhere! There's more than enough laws in most countries already. Thankfully my eMTB takes me places I don't see many honyaks.

Everyone who owns a PEV around here claims they're an ebike even if it only has one wheel and does 50+mph..... The US ebike laws define what is what, but none of the LEOs know, or can tell the difference. It's rare for them to get involved anyway, it's pretty much open season.

Although I would love to try riding a Sur Ron on my local trails (I used to race MotoX), I am SURE the mtb crowd would lose their sh!t if they ever saw one riding down a trail! I would definitely kill myself on it and probably forget to use the throttle but the look I would get would be worth the risk
