What did you buy your ebike this week?

Without a decent winter coat Bigfoot would be exposed to the elements during nasty winter road trips. That’s when I decided to get it a zippered coat, hat, gaiter and mitts to shield it and in particular, its more sensitive regions, from the ice and grime that get kicked up. I have to admit those see through windows make it look rather racy.

I would be worried that the air flow on the road could put to high forces to the bike / rack or kill sooner or later the cover. 🤔

Surprisingly the covers make very little noise even at highway speeds as I discovered on a recent test drive. The fit is rather snug and there are few gaps where the wind can enter due to the zippered closures around the wheels. My 1Up rack is built solidly and doesn’t budge at all and since the jacket is a two-part system it does, in fact allow for some air flow. Though for peace of mind, I might attach a ratchet strap from the top of the dropped seat down to the hitch bar. They have even thought of incorporating a HD liner all around where the wheels rest in the event a bike has studded tires. Most of my winter trips involve perhaps a 3–4 hour drive to the Rockies and there have been a handful of times now when I’ve arrived at a destination with a bike caked in sludge, ice, salt and even small stones lodged in the drivetrain and brake components. Not a pleasant experience when I would prefer to be hitting the trails rather than cleaning crud out from a bike. Spring outings are the worst.

The pants are yet untested in a crash and DONT have the same additional layer of thicker knee reinforcement and are not as thick of an overall material like my Fox Dender pants are but at less than 1/5 the price, I thought I might as well give them a try. i will only wear them on days when I dont crash :D. I have a 34" waist @ 180 lbs and ordered a "Fox" in M32 and the TLDs in L34. The "Fox" arrived as "100%" and are thicker material than the TLDs but I think they fit a little too tight in the waist to pedal around in as I like them a little lose. Sizes from Aliexpress tend to run a little smaller than what they list. I have several jerseys from them all in XXXL so I can wear elbow pads as a Large would be skin tight yet I wear a medium T-shirt!

They look phenomenally low quality! Makes me glad to be a lard arse because they don't do my size...

I think that tells you all you need to know.

I once bought a copy of Fox body armour from Amazon to compare to the genuine article; the plastic mouldings were identical but the fasteners, elastic and foam were significantly lower quality. I kept the genuine armour that was nearly 4 times the price and I'm tighter than a duck's arse...

Far be it from me to comment on the tightness of your arse but the attached label CLEARLY states these are the genuine article! Why would they lie? That would be unconscionable!

I will, however, admit that I did NOT select a Tailored Fit (there was no option but come to think of it, there were only skinny models in the ad and no FAT people shown wearing their products!) and I am definitely more of Causal Fit kinda guy!
Correct me if I am wrong but I doubt anything "made" by TLD, FOX, POC etc is actually made in 'Merica! I would hazard a guess that there are a few large factories that turnout all kinds of products and then stamp what ever name that they think they can sell to their distributors. Some of the products work well enough for my application (most of my jerseys have torn up sleeves from crashing :().
I am on a one man mission to locate that factory, one pair of pants and one jersey at a time! Next time I will ask them if their products are for average/chunky people and not skinny people only. Or better yet, they should put some large people in the ads so we can see what we would look like wearing them. Sort of like what they do here:

Back on Subject, GX AXS was finally purchased at a sensible price and another set of Oakleys as the last pair turned up and had to be returned as they were far too big for my perfectly formed noggin.
 
Just bought a 190mm airshaft for the rockshox zeb and a 203mm shimano xtr mt905 ice tech rear disc. im curious if the xtr will dissipate the heat better that the rt86 ice tech
 
Last week, I bought a Bosch headlamp cable, for the Bosch smart system. My hope is to be able to run my Lumonite lamp off the bikes's battery. Installed it during the weekend. I connected my Lumonite DC-DC converter and wired it all up.
Yesterday, I handed the bike over to my LBS to get them to enable the 12V light output. Hope to get it back today or tomorrow...

Also bought the Miranda 'self-extracting' crank bolts. Do NOT buy them, they're made of Cheese 🧀 !!! (See below edit)

Instead used the ISIS crank bolts from the e*thirteen 165mm cranks that took off the Trek Rails.

Edit 16 Feb 2024: Managed to fit the Miranda 'self-extracting' crank bolts!

Problem was that when bought separately (as I did) the caps already have locking fluid (blue) on them which is quite hard when dried making the caps difficult to thread into the pedal.

So cleaned off the dried locking fluid and they then fitted fine, just used a small amount of fresh blue locking fluid on the threads.

Instead used the ISIS crank bolts from the e*thirteen 165mm cranks that took off the Trek Rails.
I also got the 155mm Miranda crank arms but they came with the ISIS bolts already in the crank arms, and they said in the instructions to tighten them up to some ridiculous torque setting, I'm thinking around 40-60nm, something like that anyway, which I diligently did and all seems fine. Did yours not come with any bolts?

Bought the crank arms from Amazon UK (which where without bolts), and separately bought the ISIS self-extractor bolts. Self-extractor bolts mean don't need to use a crank puller such as Park Tool CCP-44. Torqued the cranks to 40Nm.

Ok, bought mine direct from Miranda, great service and delivery by the way. And they came with the self extractor type bolts, so no crank arm puller needed, not like getting the stock units off where the one that came loose came off easily but the other one I had to modify a Pitman Arm puller to get it off :ROFLMAO:
 
I have purchased a Rockshox super deluxe ultimate ( had the wrong mount on the bottom), a new front tyre, new gusset grips, a new exposure 6 pack so I could go night riding!

Bike is now in the shop with a potential warranty motor issue! Brilliant
 
I bought (pre ordered) a range extender for the wild, so 750 battery and 250 extender should get me around Ard rock nice and safely???
 
Is that a Bosch range extender? If so, where’s that from?
I have ordered through Leisure lakes, they supplied the bike. (Orbea Wild) so there is a few week delay as they need a wire from Bosch and an additional mount?
When I ordered the bike, it was an option, I should have taken it at the time.

In the process of converting my e160 S into a bespoke e160 RSX.....so this phase is the rear shock (Float X Perf Elite).
Also, swapped the dropper lever out as the stock Whyte is not good for me.....also got the pistons on the Hope E3's upgraded to the latest iteration.....
