Has anyone upgraded their BT-E8010 external battery to a BT-E8016 on a 2018 Merida e160?
I've noticed some people have on other brands.
It seems as though the BT-E8016 is difficult to get hold of and expensive in the UK.

I'm sure that i have seen a thread showing that it doesn't fit due to rubbing on the shock reservoir.

I almost bought one from the Netherlands but then saw the picture.

Cheers
I guess that rules that out then, it maybe looks with a different shock but that would be an extra cost as well as the battery
Probably cheaper upgrading the bike

Hi Stanczech, I don't have any details I'm afraid. Looking at the picture and seeing that it almost fits I had wondered if simply sanding a few mm off the battery case at the contact point would do the trick....

Hi Bravestarre, thank you, that's not good, that's a shame.
I'm just deciding to buy a second battery, BT-8010 or BT-8016, and I'd rather have more capacity.
But I ride on an XL frame of size, in which there is a little more free space, a bottle can even fit in the frame.
I couldn't find any more information, so I'll probably have to try it myself ...
Enjoy!

... so I made some measurements to see if the battery, which is about 17 mm higher, fits in front of the muffler. It looked tight, but I ordered the battery, and it arrived yesterday.
And it turned out well, the 630Wh external battery fits into the XL Merida eONE SIXTY 2019 frame even with a spare.
Enjoy!

Are you guys facing the same quality issues (battery health) on this e8016 model as with other shimano battery models that are reported in the thread below?

Does it work good? When the shock is fully compressed?

Yes, it works flawlessly, and it's as I described in a previous post: the Shimano 630Wh external battery fits in the XL frame of my Merida eONE SIXTY 2019, and does not come into contact with the shock absorber air chamber at any point along the entire stroke path, but there will always be enough space left. The photo is above.

As for possible problems with the 630Wh battery, I haven't noticed any yet. This year, in 2021, I unfortunately had some extra health problems, and I couldn't ride as much as I would like. I use two 503Wh batteries alternately, and this new 630Wh battery, which I have driven so far only 2391 km / 29789 altitude meters / 120.5 hours; battery status: 98% in 15 charging cycles.

Uau!!! A ratio of 159km per cycle!!!! With my 504 I have a ratio of 80Km/cycle.

I was wondering if anyone with a frame size S has installed the (external) 630Wh battery? (eOne-Sixty 900 2018, the red one :) ).
With the OEM Rock Shox Deluxe shock this will cause interference when fully compressed, but are there any piggyback shocks that don't interfere? Or is the only option to solve this problem the RS Ultimate without piggy back reservoir?

I also heard about someone moulding the battery housing a bit but that kills the warranty also... not what I would like.

Does it make a difference which frame size at all, isn't the shock-battery distance the same on all sizes?

I have merida eonesixty 900e M size. I take a risk to order 630wh battery. It wont fit without modification. It is pretty hard Job to make room to it. After 2 years use ,my battery dropped to floor and it blinks error now. Lights claims that battery is too Hot. I open it and there was little bit water drops also. I dont know how i could get this error off.
