Im looking to buy a reasonably priced 29er wheelset for my kenevo to use as commuter wheels with some cyclocross tyres. Has anyone come across any deals or can recommend any? Thanks

Carbonfos, i was able to build two wheels with sram hubs for 580.00 us complete with freehub and rotors.

I did research and found this is the direct manufacturer for most of the top carbon brand wheels on the market today.

I understand a 29er wheel won't fit Kenevo in the rear? Maybe with a skinnier CC tyre, but I would test before buying anything.

seconded I tried, they wont fit unless you put very skinny tyres on.
mine was a 2018 medium expert

This rises a (maybe stupid) question in me - what benefit has a change to 29er wheels, if you have to put on so skinny tyres that the over all circumference isn't growing??

well there is some benfit depending on where you ride I find 29ers with narrow mud tyres work really well in the wintertime when its very muddy in the forest. for me the extra little bit of lift I get with 29ers helps in the thick mud and the narrower tyres dig in and find grip instead of floating over the top. but I do ride a levo which is designed for 29ers as well as 650b+
as far as i know the kenevo is only designed for 650b and the plus is debatable, ours came with 2.6 which in my book is hardly plus

For my requirements the skinny tyres are to reduce rolling resistance and to ensure that i do not wear down my magic marys when riding my bike on the road when i use it as a commuter.

Will let you know the difference on Sunday as I’m trying the 29er front wheel in my kenevo then. I’m running a 2.6 magic Mary on the rear (27.5) and a 29er 2.35 magic Mary on the front.

It has noticeably lifted the front end and I like the new position, it should lift the bb a bit and reduce pedal strikes and rollover at the front should improve too.

The proof will be in the riding and Cannock with the well worn surface will be a good test - I’ll let you know but it looks ok so far

Whats the rear guard on that?

Nice - i am running an RRP Proguard on the rear of my hardtail which works well and has great coverage, but looking for something more svelte for the FS
