Hi, apologies if this has been answered countless times already but what's difference between the two Shimano apps? Which should I use for a Steps E8000 motor?

E-project is for bike setup, like changing power in different modes. E-ride is for monitoring bike while riding (speed cadence, etc). So the answer is either or both.

p.s. there are alternatives for both apps. I use a Garmin to record my ride and StepsUnlocker for my settings (so I can set wheel circumference).

E-Ride is basically designed to replace the OEM display with a phone running the app, and used with the phone mounted to the bars.

However as Shimano have recently updated their apps this may have changed

great explanation. Pity shimano can't explain things as easily.

Thanks Flash, that makes sense. Much appreciated
