Carbon Fiber Kickstand

lol
Just came across a few instances where i thought it would be convenient if my bike could just be parked standing on it's own
You're allowed to want a side stand :). I will point out one other problem with off road side / kick stands; they are generally held up with a spring or detent. If you're going over rough ground, as in general mtb riding, the stand can bounce down. It may even stay down. Have a look at off road motorcycles - they're quite a different design to those used on the road - they swing up higher. The most tension for them is when the stand is at horizontal. In their resting position, above horizontal, the spring is slightly relaxed - it has to go through a highest tension point to swing it down. Even these bounce about a bit like the chain on our bikes over rough stuff. I'm guessing with our light weight frames you could be looking at metal fatigue too - it maybe one area where cf frame is better? And, again from my motorcycling background, if it's for dirt, it needs a big foot. One of many reasons that side stands fail, is sinking into soft ground. Those centre stands you showed in your photo are much more reliable, but would never work with emtb. I had a little road motorcycle that I used as an adventure bike and cut the side stand off (bracket and all) with an angle grinder, and just used the centre stand. The centre stand was much more usable off road.

I agree and am aware of those issues reason why I mentioned on original post for something that is safe and wouldn’t cause accidents. I wouldn’t want to land a jump with the kickstand down

I myself right now wouldn’t add one to my emtb as i do not know of any with a solution to some of the concerns mentioned. Although, I would buy one if it was designed correctly for a full susp emtb

we’ll see what emtb’s will evolve to. Will they have integrated kickstands 10 years from now? Top end models have carbon fiber ones? Lol

might be easier to add crank arms and pedals to this thing than to properly design a kickstand for an emtb:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

that would be the way to do it - with a dedicated bracket, off road motorcycle style. That one above looks pretty steep - that is often a cause for tipping too (foot isn't far out enough). It's something that is generally discussed with adventure riders - heavy motorcycles with high COG; hence my insight. With them it's still a percentage thing though - it always happens on a group ride with someone.

Just spent a couple of weeks in Germany (Seems around 1/3 of all bikes there are ebikes) and pretty much all have stands, mostly on the rear stays. Canyon has a mount on the Spectron for a stand...

How about carrying a fishing rod support in the back pack. You can get ones with a vee shape top. Cut it to length and pop under the chain stay.

My Trek came with mounting holes by the rear axle. So I just ordered one and it’s adjustable too. I haven’t had any issues with it either in 2,000 miles. Just makes it allot nicer not having to lay it down.

Your bike looks very moto! So that's what those two threaded holes are for? Always wondered...I've got a Trek Rail.

Edit to my post. Rob uses one you can see it his latest Stilus video.
