The Specialized Kenevo SL (KSL) is a single-generation bike: launched mid-2021 as a MY2022 model, it is a 180/170 enduro SL built around the Specialized SL 1.1 motor (35Nm) with a 320Wh internal battery, a 160Wh range extender and S2-S5 sizing. It sold through to run-out discounts (50% off RRP in the UK from 2023), and new-old-stock was still on showroom floors in 2026. A 'KSL2' was rumoured repeatedly and never shipped. The frame record is spotless across five years and 676 posting members, the community is the healthiest single-bike thread on the forum, and Specialized Rider Care's fast warranty service is the most-repeated positive in the threads.
The scar is the crank/spindle complex: snapping carbon Praxis cranks, bending alloy ones under heavy jumpers, and motor spindle play that masquerades as loose cranks and ends in a warranty motor; 17 members documented it and used-market wisdom now starts with 'rock the cranks side to side'.
Motor replacements happen (11 first-person cases here, some bikes on their second or third unit) but were absorbed by warranty with little drama. The 2023 run-out discounts and 2026 new-old-stock prices turned it into the screaming used deal of the SL class: 35Nm is the only thing about this bike that aged.
