The Verdict
The HPR50's hard-failure clusters, the torque sensor, sprag clutch and pin-ring gear (28 reporters), sit alongside the segment's most generous warranty machine: Trek replaced motors in days, repeatedly free even outside warranty.
Its twin limits, thermal derate on sustained climbs and the 360 Wh range ceiling, are design properties rather than faults, and the HPR60 is a genuine revision aimed at both. The quietest system in the class, with an ownership story that depends heavily on staying inside the Trek ecosystem.
