The Verdict
The SL's record is dominated by a noise rather than a failure: the SL 1.1's gear whine (110 reporters), against which one LBS logged zero SL warranty claims in two years while full-fat Levos were 'almost a weekly thing'.
The genuine hardware clusters are small: crank-axle play (11) and freewheel/clutch failures (7), both warrantied quickly and repeatedly. The 1.2 is genuinely quieter; the measured-power dispute means the upgrade case is thinner than the marketing.
