Shimano EP801 carbon enduro eMTB, 630Wh, adjustable progression

The Yeti 160E 2025 is a premium American carbon enduro eMTB built around Yeti's signature Sixfinity six-bar suspension, the Shimano EP801 motor and a 630 Wh removable battery. Headline numbers: 170 mm of fork travel, 160 mm at the rear, 85 Nm of EP801 torque, a 22.63 kg claimed weight on the base trim, a properly slack 63.5 to 64.5 degree size-tuned head angle, size-tuned chainstays 443 to 450 mm and reach progressing 430 to 530 mm across an exceptional 10-size matrix. Production status: discontinued (Yeti are transitioning to a Bosch CX Gen 5-powered platform for the next generation). The community framing is polarised: @Singletrackmind calls it "an absolute beast" with the best stock suspension on any eMTB, while @Hob Nob calls out the premium pricing on what is fundamentally a Shimano EP8/EP801 platform.
Drive system and range. Shimano EP801 delivers 85 Nm of torque, 250 W nominal and a manufacturer-claimed 600 W peak from a 2.7 kg motor. The Shimano BT-E8036 630 Wh battery is removable. Real-world durability is well-documented: @Gavalar reports 2360 miles over 2 years on a Yeti 160e with EP800 motor and no issues. @Singletrackmind flags the 630 Wh battery as "limiting compared to 700/750/800 Wh competitors": this is the bike's main range compromise. @Lightme reports the EP801 motor as "more underwhelming than expected" but the suspension as "better than expected".
Geometry and handling. Size-tuned geometry: 63.5 degree HA on the larger frames (S, M, L, XL extras) with 64.5 degrees on SM, MD, LG and XL standard, paired with size-tuned chainstays 443 to 450 mm. Reach progression covers a wide span: 430 mm on SM through 530 mm on the largest XL, with 10 configurations supporting fit accommodation. Wheelbase 1208 to 1328 mm. @Gavalar notes a Large fits a 180 cm rider well with a 50 mm stem and PNW Loam Bars with 38 mm rise. The Sixfinity six-bar suspension is the bike's defining feature: @Singletrackmind rates the Push Industries suspension tune as transformative.
Build and value. Four trims. Base at £6299, 22.63 kg. C2 at £7499, 22.68 kg. T3 at £9499, 23.5 kg. T2 at £11999, 22.63 kg. @Lightme documents buying a Yeti 160E at close to 50 per cent off, suggesting end-of-life pricing pressure as Yeti transitions to a new platform.
Community-verified strengths. Three things owners praise. The Sixfinity suspension: @Singletrackmind calls it "best stock suspension on any ebike" with Push Industries tune. The chassis quality: @Singletrackmind directly compares the Yeti 160E to a Specialized Levo S-Works and rates the Yeti "much better all-round eMTB". And long-term reliability: @Gavalar's 2360 miles over 2 years with no issues is exceptional.
Caveats and known gripes. Three honest flags. @Singletrackmind flags carbon frame flex/creaks developing after 2000+ miles, with the smaller 630 Wh battery as a real range limitation. @Hob Nob documents the £12k T2 price as expensive for an off-the-shelf EP8 system when similar-spec bikes are available at half the price, and specifically calls out Yeti's "legendary abysmal customer service". @MarkE192 reports significant motor rattle when descending on the prior EP8 build, contributing to his move away from the platform.
Verdict. The Yeti 160E 2025 is for the rider who values Yeti's Sixfinity suspension performance and chassis quality over premium pricing and 630 Wh battery range. Production is discontinued: end-of-line pricing should reflect the platform transition. If buying new, look at Yeti's next-generation Bosch CX Gen 5 platform (when announced) or rivals like the Cannondale Moterra LT, Pivot Shuttle LT or Santa Cruz Vala.
