All-new Bosch-powered Decoy enduro eMTB; Bosch Performance CX Gen 5 (85Nm) with 800Wh battery; mixed wheels

The YT Decoy 2025 is the German direct-to-consumer brand's new-generation Bosch-powered carbon enduro: 180 mm of fork travel paired with 170 mm of rear, an Ultra-Modulus carbon chassis with V4L (Virtual 4-Link) suspension, the new Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 motor at 120 Nm of torque and a 750 W peak, and an 800 Wh PowerTube battery. At a claimed 23.0 kg with a flip-chip-adjustable 63.5–64.5 degree head angle and 21 size points across S–XXL, this is one of the most fit-flexible and aggressively-priced full-power carbon enduros on sale. The Core 4 base trim at £8,999 sits firmly in premium territory.
Drive system and range. Bosch CX Gen 5 is the headline upgrade — YT has moved on from the previous Decoy's Shimano EP801 to Bosch's flagship 120 Nm, 750 W peak unit. @Singletrackmind owned two YT Decoys and moved away because he preferred Bosch Gen 4 and Gen 5 over the EP8 — this Decoy generation now serves that preference directly. The 800 Wh PowerTube battery is gold-listed as not removable on this specification. Bosch's Smart System ecosystem (Flow app, OTA firmware) is fully supported. Real-world range on Bosch CX Gen 5 with 800 Wh consistently lands at 1,500–2,000 m of climbing per charge depending on assistance and rider weight.
Geometry and handling. A 63.5–64.5 degree head angle (via flip-chip in the shock mount) puts this firmly in modern long-travel enduro territory, adjustable for the rider's preference. Reach progresses cleanly from 435 mm (S) through 455 mm (M), 480 mm (L) and 515 mm (XL). Chainstays grow 445 mm to 455 mm depending on size and flip-chip position. Wheelbase grows 1,219 mm to 1,339 mm. 21 nominal size points (with multiple within-size sub-variants) is the most fit-flexible geometry table in this database. V4L is YT's signature suspension layout.
Build and value. Five trims share the carbon chassis. The £5,999 Core 2 at 23.9 kg is the entry: RockShox ZEB Select+, Vivid Select+ air shock, TRP DH-R EVO brakes and SRAM Eagle 90 Transmission. The £7,499 Lung at a remarkable 21.0 kg is the SL-class variant. The £8,999 Core 4 / base trim at 23.0 kg pairs FOX FLOAT 38 Factory (GRIP X2 damper, Kashima), FOX FLOAT X2 Factory shock (custom tune), SRAM MAVEN Silver brakes (220 mm / 200 mm rotors) and SRAM X0 Eagle Transmission AXS. The £8,999 MX Uncaged at 23.0 kg is the coil-shock and 27.5" rear mullet variant with FOX DHX coil. Core 2 at £5,999 is one of the more aggressive carbon-front-with-Bosch-CX-Gen-5 pricing in the segment.
Community-verified strengths. The previous Decoy generation built a strong forum following. @Singletrackmind notes the Decoy performs well and is happy to "manage" range from a 540 Wh battery. @j8ch on the 720 Wh battery upgrade reports an extra bar of battery (5 bars vs 4) is "nice peace of mind for longer days," though he uses the 540 Wh on 9 of 10 rides. The new 800 Wh + Bosch CX Gen 5 combination addresses both the historical range and motor concerns that drove some previous-generation Decoy owners away from the platform. The 21-size geometry table is genuinely useful for tall and short riders.
Caveats and known gripes. Direct-to-consumer servicing is the structural caveat. YT does not have a UK dealer network — buyers work with local independents for service and rely on courier-based warranty turnaround. The 800 Wh battery is gold-listed as non-removable, which limits hot-swap workflows on this specification (previous-generation Decoy batteries were removable; buyers should clarify with YT at order time). @Singletrackmind notes the previous-generation Decoy retained the same geometry through its production run — buyers wanting the latest geometry should ensure they are getting the new V4L Gen platform. @Rob Rides EMTB describes the Fazua motor in the YT Decoy SN (different sibling, not this Bosch build) as "nowhere near the DJI Avinox in performance" — context for buyers cross-shopping Decoy SN against Avinox alternatives. 21 nominal size points is generous but creates buyer confusion — most riders should focus on the standard S/M/L/XL designations.
Verdict. The YT Decoy 2025 is one of the more compelling Bosch CX Gen 5 carbon enduros on sale: 180/170 mm travel, flip-chip-adjustable geometry, 21 size points, an 800 Wh PowerTube battery, V4L suspension and a Core 2 entry at £5,999 that genuinely undercuts comparable mainstream brand spec. It will suit buyers who are comfortable with direct-to-consumer ordering, value YT's design heritage and want the latest 120 Nm Bosch power in an aggressive 180/170 mm carbon platform. Buyers wanting an established UK dealer network, a guaranteed-removable battery or first-hand long-term ownership data on the new Bosch-powered Decoy specifically should consider the Trek Rail+ Gen 5 or Cube One77 SLX alternatives. Production status: current.
