EMTB Forums verdict

The Whyte Karve EVO 2026 is the British brand's all-new 180 mm carbon/alloy MX e-enduro, powered by DJI's flagship Avinox M2S motor. It runs 180 mm of travel front and rear in mullet (29 front, 27.5 rear) format on Whyte's Shape.it Link V2 suspension. Headline numbers: 150 Nm of peak torque (130 Nm continuous), 1500 W peak power, a 24.4 kg claimed weight on the RS trim, a 63.3 degree head angle, size-specific 445 to 465 mm chainstays and reach growing from 457 to 507 mm across three sizes. £5,650 for the RS trim, £7,299 for the RSX. Community verdict: properly engineered for UK conditions with the best Avinox-powered geometry to date, and proper enduro-race pedigree as Whyte's head MTB designer recently took the overall e-bike win at Southern Enduro by 1.5 minutes.

Drive system and range. The DJI Avinox M2S launched in April 2026 with flat-wire windings for higher slot fill, delivering 130 Nm continuous and 150 Nm peak torque, 1300 W continuous and 1500 W peak power, at a 2.63 kg unit weight. The 800 Wh DJI Avinox FP800 battery is removable via side hatch, supporting 4 A standard charging. The Whyte Karve EVO's 800 Wh capacity gives proper alpine-day range, with mixed enduro use typically reaching 60 to 90 km depending on assist mode. Owners on the broader Whyte and DJI Avinox community have flagged that two-battery swap routines on UK terrain (Wales, Caersws) deliver 4 to 6 hours of solid riding when paired with quick swaps.

Geometry and handling. A 63.3 degree head angle is properly slack for an e-enduro, matching the Mondraker Zendit and Specialized Levo EVO on descent bias. Reach grows from 457 mm in M to 507 mm in XL. Crucially, chainstays grow from 445 mm on M to 465 mm on XL, which gives bigger riders properly proportional rear centres rather than the short-chainstay-across-all-sizes approach most rivals use. Wheelbases run 1259 to 1342 mm. Mullet wheel setup keeps the bike playful, and the 29er Compatible Strut allows conversion to full 29 if desired. The Shape.it Link V2 suspension delivers what owners flag as exceptional balance front-to-rear.

Build and value. Two trims. The RS at £5,650 (24.4 kg) brings RockShox ZEB Select fork with Delta RC damper, RockShox Super Deluxe Select RT shock, SRAM Maven Base four-piston brakes with 220 mm front and 200 mm rear rotors, and a Maxxis Assegai/Minion DHR 2 tyre combination. The RSX at £7,299 (23.9 kg) upgrades to RockShox ZEB Ultimate with Charger 3.2, RockShox Vivid Ultimate RC2T, SRAM Maven Silver and SRAM S1000 AXS Eagle T-Type. The standout strength is the RS trim spec at £5,650: DJI Avinox M2S, 800 Wh, ZEB Select and SRAM Maven Base on a 180 mm chassis is genuinely competitive against rivals £2,000 dearer.

Community-verified strengths. Owners and journalists consistently praise the Karve EVO's geometry as bang on for modern enduro, with well-balanced front and rear lengths. The bike has proper dropper post insertion (unlike the Mondraker Zendit's compromised seat tube design). Whyte's UK conditions focus shows in the chassis: internal cable routing, the carbon mainframe with alloy swing arm and the 6061 alloy chainstay system are designed for British weather. The Whyte E180 RS owner community has been positive about the Karve as the natural successor, with the new platform addressing the previous bike's steep-climb limitations.

Caveats and known gripes. The three-size lineup (M, L, XL only) is restrictive: shorter riders are not catered for. The 180 mm of travel may be more than UK riders actually need: one owner flagged it as 'possibly more travel than desired' for typical trail-centre use. SRAM Transmission on the RSX trim has been flagged by the broader eMTB community as sensitive to chain line, spacing and axle torque, with breakages more common than traditional drivetrains. And the integrated battery on competing Mondraker Zendit (also DJI M2S powered) limits dropper insertion, but the Karve EVO uses the removable FP800 design that does not have this issue.

Verdict. The Karve EVO 2026 suits the serious enduro rider who wants DJI Avinox M2S power on a properly-engineered UK chassis with size-specific chainstays, a removable 800 Wh battery and Whyte's race-winning geometry credentials, at a sharper price than equivalent Mondraker, Specialized or Pivot flagships. Riders chasing shorter travel, smaller frame sizes or full 29 setup at the entry should look at the Marin Alpine Trail E or the Whyte E150. Production status: current.
