Hydroformed 6061 alloy enduro eMTB with Bosch Performance CX Race 85Nm and MX wheels; 26.1kg

The Whyte E-180 2024 is the British brand's race-bred aluminium enduro flagship: 180 mm of fork travel paired with 170 mm of rear, the Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 4 motor at 85 Nm of torque, and a removable 750 Wh PowerTube battery. At a claimed 26.0 kg with a 63.2 degree head angle (genuinely slack) and 444 mm chainstays, the E-180 sits firmly in the aggressive long-travel category. At £6,399 base price with SRAM XX Eagle AXS T-Type wireless, this is one of the better-specced full-power enduros on sale at the price point. Forum data is mixed on the previous-generation E-180 platform — buyers should understand both the strengths and the known concerns.
Drive system and range. The Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 4 delivers 85 Nm of torque (the gold-authoritative figure for this generation). The 750 Wh PowerTube battery is removable, smaller than the 800 Wh on some rivals but generous compared to 600 Wh competitors. Real-world range on the Bosch CX with 750 Wh typically delivers 1,400–1,800 m of climbing per charge depending on assistance and rider weight.
Geometry and handling. A 63.2 degree head angle is one of the slackest in this database — genuinely modern enduro/light-DH territory. Reach progresses well: 455 mm (M), 483 mm (L), 510 mm (XL). The 444 mm chainstay is held constant across sizes and is short for a 170 mm rear-travel platform — prioritising agility and rear-end manoeuvrability over outright stability. Wheelbase grows 1,256 mm to 1,325 mm. Three sizes (M, L, XL) is the main fit caveat — riders below roughly 5'7" will find no S option. The geometry profile is unambiguously aggressive: this is a bike for serious enduro and bike-park use, not a calm trail bike.
Build and value. Four trims share the alloy chassis. The £5,499 RSX is the entry. The £6,399 base trim at 26.0 kg is excellent value: RockShox ZEB Ultimate fork (180 mm, Charger 2.1 RC2 damper, DebonAir+ spring), RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate RCT shock (custom-tuned for Whyte), SRAM Code RSC 4-piston brakes and SRAM XX Eagle AXS T-Type wireless. The £6,399 S trim at 26.1 kg drops to ZEB (non-Ultimate) and SRAM GX AXS at the same price. The £9,799 Works MX top trim is the halo carbon-and-mullet build. The £6,399 base with XX AXS at this price is genuinely class-leading on drivetrain spec.
Community-verified strengths. The slack 63.2 degree head angle and aggressive geometry are well-suited to demanding UK enduro terrain. @Peter1979 has had a Whyte E-180S since 2021 and "really enjoyed it" with the bike handling "great and a beast for riding South Wales trails." Whyte's UK dealer network and aftercare reputation are strong.
Caveats and known gripes. Component-level issues are recurring on previous-generation E-180 platforms. @Peter1979 swapped the stock SRAM brakes for Shimano Saints due to recurring brake issues and notes the dropper post failed early. @rpurdie reports the E-180 "requires significant rider input and has poor power mode implementation." A forum user reports a third-sprocket bend on the stock SRAM NX 12-speed cassette after just 30 miles of riding. @rossctr confirms the E-180 nameplate is being replaced by a forthcoming DJI Avinox-powered platform (the "Karve Evo") with 170 mm rear / 180 mm front travel — buyers may want to wait for the new platform if Avinox power is important. @rupert_photographer notes new Whyte E-160/E-180 models for 2025 are expected with 800 Wh batteries. Three sizes (M, L, XL) and 26 kg weight are the chassis-level limitations.
Verdict. The Whyte E-180 is a genuinely aggressive UK-engineered alloy enduro: slack 63.2 degree HA, 180/170 mm travel, the Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 4 motor and class-competitive XX AXS spec at £6,399. It will suit serious enduro and bike-park riders who want UK brand identity, strong dealer aftercare and aggressive geometry, and who can live with the platform's known SRAM-spec teething issues. Buyers who would prefer to wait for Whyte's forthcoming Avinox-powered "Karve Evo" replacement, who want a smaller S size, or who prioritise a sub-25 kg weight should consider the Cube One77 SLX, BH iLynx+ DL or current Trek Rail+ instead. Production status: current (E-180 nameplate transitioning to Karve Evo in 2026).
