EMTB Forums verdict

The Transition Repeater 2025 is the Washington brand's carbon enduro eMTB with a Horst Link rear and a heavy-hitting 170/170mm travel envelope. Headline numbers: 170mm fork, 170mm rear, Brose Drive S Mag motor at 90Nm and 565W peak with a 2.9kg motor mass (per gold-listed 2025 spec; previous-generation Repeaters shipped Shimano EP801 and SRAM Eagle Powertrain), a removable 720Wh SRAM Eagle Powertrain Full-Size battery, 22.7kg claimed, 63.5 to 63.8 degree head angle and reach 425 to 510mm across eight size-coded options. Priced from GBP 7,999 base. Production status: discontinued. The Repeater has been a much-discussed platform on the forum: multiple owner reports across the older EP801 and SRAM-equipped variants give a rich history.

Drive system and range. The 2025-listed Brose Drive S Mag is one of the quietest mid-drive motors on the market, with a belt-driven first stage that keeps the noise floor remarkably low. 90Nm of torque and 565W peak. The 720Wh battery is removable on the Brose-equipped variant. Real-world range on 720Wh with a 170/170mm enduro is two and a half to three hours of mixed alpine riding. Note: earlier Repeater production runs shipped Shimano EP801 and SRAM Eagle Powertrain. @JuiceStainV&RStick reports the EP801 Repeater suffered motor cutout at high cadence in Boost on technical climbs. @motoadve documents a dead-spot issue on the SRAM Powertrain Repeater that persisted through motor replacement.

Geometry and handling. 63.5 to 63.8 degrees up front is genuine enduro-DH territory. Reach steps with mullet/29in flip-chip variation: 425 (SM), 453 (S), 455 (MD), 478 (M), 480 (LG), 503 (L), 510 (XL). Chainstays range 446 to 455mm depending on size and configuration. Wheelbase tops out at 1326mm on XL. The Horst Link rear and slack-and-long Transition geometry pair to deliver one of the most planted descenders in the segment.

Build and value. One base trim at GBP 7,999 / 22.7kg. Spec depends on the motor variant. @mRw8 highlights coil shock conversion (450 SAR coil on DHX at 28% sag) as a meaningful upgrade for the platform. @mRw8 notes the rear brake hose can be replaced without dropping the motor (unscrewing the base of the rear triangle for access). Standout: 22.7kg carbon enduro at 170/170mm is competitive for the class. Questionable: the multiple motor-variant history (EP801, SRAM Powertrain, Brose) creates parts and service complexity.

Caveats and known gripes.

  • Discontinued. Production status: discontinued. New buys are increasingly via used market. Warranty support is limited to the original warranty period.
  • Motor variant history. Repeaters have shipped with EP801, SRAM Eagle Powertrain and (per gold 2025) Brose Drive S Mag. Confirm motor variant at point of sale, particularly when buying used.
  • EP801 motor cutout. @JuiceStainV&RStick reports sudden motor cutout in Boost at high cadence on technical climbs on the EP801 variant.
  • SRAM Powertrain dead-spot. @motoadve documents a dead-spot issue at re-engagement after stopping that persisted through motor replacement.
  • SRAM Powertrain battery non-removable. @abacall notes the SRAM-equipped Repeater has a non-removable battery, making rear brake routing more involved than Shimano variants.
  • Headset cable routing. A forum thread notes the Repeater uses headset cable routing, which complicates basic bar swaps and fork servicing.
  • Eight size variants. SM, S, MD, M, LG, L, XL, XL is confusing; cross-reference reach (425 to 510mm) and chainstay against your existing bike before order.

Verdict. The 2025 Repeater is one of the most planted carbon enduro eMTB platforms on sale, with proper 170/170mm travel, slack-long geometry, eight sizes and Transition's PNW shred heritage behind it. Production status is discontinued. It suits riders who want a properly slack, properly long-travel carbon enduro with strong used-market positioning, and who can verify motor variant and service history. Buyers wanting a current-production warranty path, simpler motor history or AXS Transmission as standard should look at the Specialized Kenevo, YT Decoy Carbon or Crussis E-Full 12. Production status: discontinued.
