EMTB Forums verdict

The 2023 Repeater is Transition's full-power carbon enduro eMTB, built around 160mm of GiddyUp suspension travel front and rear, 29in wheels and the brand's Speed Balanced Geometry. Power comes from a Shimano EP8 (DU-EP800) drive unit rated at 85Nm and 500W peak, fed by a removable 630Wh Shimano battery, so it sits firmly in the everyday full-fat eMTB camp rather than the lightweight class.

Five builds were offered, all on the same carbon frame, climbing from the NX at 9,499 USD through GX, GX AXS, AXS and the SRAM Transmission-equipped XO AXS. The cheaper builds run Magura MT5 or MT7 brakes on 203mm rotors with a Fox Float X or RockShox ZEB, while the AXS and XO AXS builds step up to a Fox 38 Grip 2 Factory fork, wireless shifting and the lighter DT Swiss Hybrid HX 1700 wheelset. Claimed weight for the GX is 22.3kg. UK pricing put the GX at around 8,700 GBP RRP at launch.

Geometry is deliberately balanced rather than extreme, with a 64 degree head angle and 455mm chainstays held constant across all four sizes, reach growing from 425mm on the Small to 510mm on the XL, and an effective seat angle between 77.1 and 78.4 degrees. The 30mm BB drop and roughly 340mm BB height give a planted but not slammed stance. This is the discontinued 2023 model year; later Repeater PT versions switched to the SRAM Eagle Powertrain platform, so the EP8 Repeater documented here is its own generation.

What the numbers mean on the trail

Computed from this bike's geometry, spec and build kit — reach, wheelbase, chainstay, head and seat angles, travel, motor, weight and the fork/tyre/brake spec — and worked out per size, because a fixed chainstay can make an S and an XL feel very different.

Size
Descending
81

Slack 64° head angle, 160mm travel and a long 1280mm wheelbase — composed in the chunk, confident when it gets steep, and stable through fast corners.

Playfulness
66

Short 455mm rear and a lighter build — easy to pop, manual and throw around.

Size balance
93

Balanced front-to-rear in L (FC:RC 1.81) — weight sits evenly between the wheels.

Technical climbing
77

Shimano EP8 (DU-EP800) and a steep 77.4° seat angle keep the weight planted over the front — a proper winch. 500W of peak power and 85Nm of torque — a strong full-power motor.

Best suited toPlayful trail riding — jumps, pumps and tight, techy singletrack.

Easy to throw around; happiest when you're active on the bike.

Watch out forNo major red flags in the L geometry.

The numbers are well balanced for its category.
