EMTB Forums verdict

The 2022 Transition Repeater is the first-generation Repeater, the Bellingham brand's first full-power electric mountain bike. Every build shares one Toray-carbon frame with 160mm of GiddyUp travel front and rear, 29in wheels and Transition's SBG geometry, driven by the Shimano EP8 (DU-EP800) motor rated at 85Nm and a removable 630Wh Shimano BT-E8036 battery with a full-colour SC-EM800 display.

Three builds were offered, all in Mossy Green. The NX (£7,199.95) runs a RockShox ZEB R fork, Fox Float X Performance shock, a SRAM NX Eagle mechanical drivetrain and Magura MT5 brakes. The GX (£8,499.95) steps up to a ZEB Ultimate fork, Float X Performance Elite shock, GX Eagle shifting and Magura MT7 stoppers. The flagship AXS (£9,199.95) pairs a Fox Float 38 Grip2 Factory fork and Float X2 Factory shock with SRAM GX AXS wireless shifting, DT Swiss Hybrid HX 1700 wheels and a OneUp carbon bar.

Geometry is shared across the four sizes (S to XL): a 64 degree head angle, 455mm chainstays, a 340mm estimated BB height and reach from 425mm to 510mm, with effective seat angles steepening on the smaller frames. Claimed weights are 22.3kg for the GX and AXS and 23.1kg for the NX in Size MD. All builds run Schwalbe Super Gravity tyres (Magic Mary front, Big Betty rear) and ship with a Shimano EC-E6002 charger.

This was the Repeater's launch model year and is now discontinued, later superseded by newer Repeater generations. UK pricing was set through Transition's distributor and confirmed by period UK dealer listings.

What the numbers mean on the trail

Computed from this bike's geometry, spec and build kit — reach, wheelbase, chainstay, head and seat angles, travel, motor, weight and the fork/tyre/brake spec — and worked out per size, because a fixed chainstay can make an S and an XL feel very different.

Size
Descending
81

Slack 64° head angle, 160mm travel and a long 1280mm wheelbase — composed in the chunk, confident when it gets steep, and stable through fast corners.

Playfulness
66

Short 455mm rear and a lighter build — easy to pop, manual and throw around.

Size balance
93

Balanced front-to-rear in L (FC:RC 1.81) — weight sits evenly between the wheels.

Technical climbing
77

Shimano EP8 (DU-EP800) and a steep 77.4° seat angle keep the weight planted over the front — a proper winch. 500W of peak power and 85Nm of torque — a strong full-power motor.

Best suited toPlayful trail riding — jumps, pumps and tight, techy singletrack.

Easy to throw around; happiest when you're active on the bike.

Watch out forNo major red flags in the L geometry.

The numbers are well balanced for its category.
