Slack 63.5° head angle, 170mm travel and a long 1292mm wheelbase — composed in the chunk, confident when it gets steep, and stable through fast corners.

Playful full-power enduro with SRAM power and a steep price

The Transition Repeater PT 2025 was Transition's full-power enduro eMTB built around the SRAM Eagle Powertrain motor (90 Nm torque, 250 W rated, 680 W manufacturer-claimed peak, 2.98 kg) and a 720 Wh Full-Size battery. Travel is properly aggressive at 170 mm front and 170 mm rear on a carbon Horst Link chassis. Three trims — GX AXS and (base) at £10,499 (24.0 kg), and X0 AXS at £11,999 (23.9 kg). Fifteen size/configuration combinations from SM to XL, reach 425-510 mm, head angle 63.5-64.0 degrees (size and flip-chip dependent), size-tuned chainstays 446-455 mm, wheelbase 1221-1326 mm. The community read in one line: a genuinely innovative SRAM Eagle Powertrain enduro with auto-shift/coast-shift functionality and proper Transition geometry, but discontinued and superseded by the Bosch-powered Regulator CX.
Drive system and range. The SRAM Eagle Powertrain was a SRAM/Brose collaboration — 90 Nm torque, 680 W peak, 2.98 kg motor weight. The system's headline feature was auto-shift and coast-shift integration with SRAM AXS Transmission, allowing the bike to shift gears automatically based on cadence and torque sensors, even when coasting. @leftside documents the appeal: "How do folks find the auto-shift and coast-shift? These will be new to me, but looking forward to trying them out. Winter here, and gloves are thicker. Not having to shift will be a bonus." Real-world range will sit in the 50 to 70 km territory on Trail/Boost mode.
Geometry and handling. Modern enduro. 63.5 to 64.0 degree head angle depending on size and flip-chip — properly slack. Size-tuned chainstays scale 446-455 mm. Reach progresses 425 mm (SM), 455 mm (MD), 478 mm (M), and up to 510 mm (XL). Wheelbase 1221-1326 mm. @leftside on the bike's playfulness: "The seat tube is already quite low... I can throw this ebike around like no other ebike I've owned." The platform supports 29 or 27.5 inch rear wheels.
Build and value. Three trims. GX AXS at £10,499 (24.0 kg) is the entry point with SRAM GX AXS Transmission integrated with the SRAM Eagle Powertrain motor for auto-shift functionality. (base) trim at the same £10,499 is an alternative spec. X0 AXS at £11,999 (23.9 kg) is the no-compromise top with X0 AXS Transmission. At this price expect Fox Float 38 Performance Elite or RockShox Zeb Ultimate fork, Fox Float X2 or RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate shock, SRAM Code RSC brakes, and the integrated SRAM AXS drivetrain.
Community-verified strengths.
- SRAM Eagle Powertrain motor with auto-shift/coast-shift is genuinely novel — no other production eMTB offers this level of drivetrain integration.
- Size-tuned chainstays (446-455 mm) is properly considered for size-specific feel.
- @leftside's playful description and Transition's signature geometry mean the platform rides like a proper Transition rather than a heavy eMTB.
Caveats and known gripes.
- Production status: discontinued. The successor is Transition's Regulator CX with Bosch CX Gen 5 motor — a meaningful upgrade in motor support, noise and ecosystem maturity.
- @motoadve documented a critical SRAM Powertrain dead-spot issue: "when stopping and restarting pedaling on descents or technical sections, there is no assist initially before it catches. Happens with both auto-shift enabled and disabled. Issue persisted through motor replacement." The early SRAM Powertrain firmware had real-world issues.
- @JuiceStainV&RStick documented motor cutout at high cadence in boost on technical climbs — appears to be a power-limiter behaviour, frustrating on technical terrain.
- @abacall notes "The SRAM-equipped Repeater has a non-removable battery, making it more involved than Shimano versions" for rear brake hose routing — service work is harder than rivals.
- £10,499 entry pricing is premium, especially for a now-discontinued platform.
- @az2au ranked the Repeater PT as "fine but boring" in a multi-bike SL comparison — the bike performs but isn't class-leading.
Verdict. The Transition Repeater PT 2025 was a properly innovative enduro eMTB with SRAM Eagle Powertrain auto-shift/coast-shift integration — the most ambitious drivetrain-motor coordination ever shipped on a production eMTB. As a current new purchase it's discontinued; used examples at strong pricing remain interesting for riders who want the SRAM ecosystem integration and don't mind the documented dead-spot and cutout issues (which may be resolved on later firmware). For new purchases, look at Transition's own Regulator CX (Bosch CX Gen 5), Pivot Shuttle AM or Norco Sight VLT at similar travel categories. Production status: discontinued.
What the numbers mean on the trail
Computed from this bike's geometry, spec and build kit — reach, wheelbase, chainstay, head and seat angles, travel, motor, weight and the fork/tyre/brake spec — and worked out per size, because a fixed chainstay can make an S and an XL feel very different.
A fair bit of pop, but happiest on flowing trail rather than trials moves.
Balanced front-to-rear in L (FC:RC 1.84) — weight sits evenly between the wheels.
SRAM Eagle Powertrain and a steep 78.2° seat angle keep the weight planted over the front — a proper winch. 680W of peak power and 90Nm of torque — a strong full-power motor.
Rewards commitment; it should feel calmer as the speed rises.
The numbers are well balanced for its category.
