EMTB Forums verdict

The Transition Regulator CX 2026 is the brand-new full-power version of Transition's eMTB platform, built around the Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 motor (120 Nm torque, 250 W rated, 750 W manufacturer-claimed peak, 2.8 kg) and a 600 Wh Bosch PowerTube battery. Travel is 160 mm front and 150 mm rear on a carbon chassis. Four sizes from SM to XL, reach 425-510 mm, head angle 64.5 degrees, size-tuned chainstays 442-448 mm, wheelbase 1201-1305 mm. Claimed weight ~22.1 kg with the 600 Wh battery per owner reports. The community read in one line: a properly considered Pacific Northwest carbon trail/enduro on the latest Bosch CX Gen 5 motor, lightweight at 22 kg, with the trade-off being the smaller 600 Wh battery and no CX-R race motor option.

Drive system and range. The Bosch CX Gen 5 is the most refined eMTB motor on the market — 120 Nm torque, smooth and quiet, free OTA firmware updates via the eBike Flow app, the deepest dealer network in eMTB. The 600 Wh battery is on the smaller side of the modern range, which is the headline trade-off versus 800+ Wh rivals like the Pivot Shuttle AM. @bmwpowere36m3's range test: 195 lb rider, 600 Wh battery, 23.7 miles, 4,429 ft climbing on forest service road, mostly Purple/Red mode, less than 15% battery remaining — extrapolating to 6,000 ft possible in Purple (eMTB) mode. Realistic mixed-trail range is 35 to 60 km on Trail/eMTB mode.

Geometry and handling. Modern, properly balanced. 64.5 degree head angle is bang on the trail/enduro norm. Reach progresses 425 mm (SM), 455 mm (MD), 480 mm (LG), 510 mm (XL). Chainstays are size-tuned: 442 mm on SM/MD, 448 mm on LG/XL — proper attention to size-specific feel. Wheelbase scales 1201 to 1305 mm. @dirt-diggler at 6 ft on a Large: "a large doesn't feel that big. The rear end is slightly longer than what I am used too and it feels very balanced for it both up and downhill." Transition's signature playful, capable geometry comes through.

Build and value. Single base trim catalogued. @dirt-diggler built a Large with RockShox Super Deluxe base shock, Lyrik Ultimate fork, Code RSC brakes (180/200 mm rotors), and SRAM 90 drivetrain — typical Transition spec philosophy is sensible mid-to-upper components, leaving room for upgrades. An owner documents weight comparisons: Transition Regulator CX at 21.4 kg (600 Wh battery) vs Forbidden Druid Ecore at 22.6 kg (800 Wh) and Norco Sight VLT at 22.2 kg (800 Wh).

Community-verified strengths.

  • @gbcoke on the XT build: "amazing bike with balanced geometry, great suspension, poppy feel. Zero squeaks from frame, very silent, Gen 5 motor is very smooth." Only complaint: TRP Pro brakes lack power.
  • @Swingset after switching from a Heckler VPP: "Its way easier to get the proper rear sag on the four bar than the VPP. My first experience with the radial tires is shocking. Had to really pump them up and man they are grippy." Four-bar suspension and modern tyre spec deliver.
  • Size-tuned chainstays (442 mm SM/MD, 448 mm LG/XL) are properly considered in a category where many rivals run fixed rear-centres.

Caveats and known gripes.

  • 600 Wh battery only. @Suns_PSD documents rumoured 2026 changes including higher prices due to tariffs and Kiox display only on higher builds. No 800 Wh option means less range than rivals.
  • @Suns_PSD notes "no CX-R motors at all on Transitions" — buyers wanting the new Bosch CX-R race motor (in the Cube AMS Hybrid 177 Super TM) have to look elsewhere.
  • @Chicane at 6 ft documents struggling with the steep 78° seat tube angle on the Large: "the high seat post naturally puts me over the bars... Not sure why Transition cuts the steering tube so short." Long-legged riders may find the cockpit fit tight.
  • @Suns_PSD notes "lacks reach adjust option, CXR motor, real paint, and frame-only option" — feature parity vs newer rivals is partial.

Verdict. The Transition Regulator CX 2026 is one of the most thoughtful carbon trail/enduro eMTB platforms of the year — proven Bosch CX Gen 5 motor, sensible 22 kg weight, size-tuned chainstays and the brand's hallmark playful-yet-capable handling. It suits intermediate-to-advanced trail riders who want the Bosch ecosystem without compromise, who appreciate Transition's understated PNW design ethos, and who don't mind the 600 Wh battery in exchange for the lighter overall weight. Look elsewhere if you want maximum battery capacity, the CX-R race motor, or frame-only options. Production status: current, single base trim, four sizes.

“Received my CX today, immediately stripped back to frame and shock and rebuilt with parts I had from a previous build, plus a few new bits. So I've gone for a sortve strong but light build, I live in the south of England and mainly ride…”
