EMTB Forums verdict

The Scott Ransom eRIDE 2025 is the Swiss brand's full-power 180/180 mm enduro/freeride eMTB, an aluminium 4-bar Virtual 4-Link (VLK) chassis built around the Bosch Performance Line CX motor and a 625 Wh PowerTube battery. Headline numbers: 180 mm of travel front and rear, Bosch CX Gen 5 (in MY25 spec, with 120 Nm and 750 W peak post-PU2.0 OTA), 625 Wh removable SmartSystem PowerTube, a 64.0 degree head angle, reach 440 to 515 mm across four sizes, 24.8 kg claimed weight and £4,695 for the Ransom eRIDE 920 base trim. The market verdict places the Ransom eRIDE 920 in the small club of true full-power 180/180 mm enduro/freeride bikes at sub-£5k pricing, alongside the Whyte E-180 and Haibike Nduro that @R120 classed as the genuine "big-travel bruisers".

Drive system and range. The Bosch Performance Line CX in MY25 spec gets the Gen 5 + PU2.0 firmware delivering 120 Nm and 750 W peak, with the full Bosch Flow App and Kiox 300 display ecosystem. The 625 Wh PowerTube is removable, key-secured (compatible with the broader Bosch 625 Wh ecosystem per @mastakilla) and supports the Bosch range extender for additional capacity. Real-world range on 625 Wh in a 24.8 kg full-power enduro is realistically 35 to 45 km of proper enduro riding with significant elevation. Reliability has a flag: @RobertK. reports a 2022 Ransom eRIDE 910 with a Bosch motor that "skips a beat like broken hub under load", with a new drivetrain failing to fix it and Bosch denying warranty after three weeks.

Geometry and handling. The 64.0 degree head angle is bang on category-norm for an 180/180 mm enduro/freeride chassis. Reach progresses 440, 465, 490 and 515 mm across S to XL with a fixed 445 mm chainstay and wheelbase scaling 1245 to 1320 mm. The Ransom eRIDE features adjustable geometry via flip-chip in the rear linkage and clearance for both 29 and 27.5 inch rear wheels for mullet conversion. The XL at 515 mm reach with 1320 mm wheelbase is genuinely long, suiting taller park-leaning riders.

Build and value. Single base trim documented at £4,695. The 920 spec includes a RockShox ZEB Base RC Air 180 mm fork with the 1.8 inch tapered steerer, a FOX Float X2 Performance Trunnion air shock 230x65 mm with 2-position lever, Shimano SLX BR-M7120 4-piston brakes with 203 mm rotors front and rear, and a Shimano XT/Deore mixed drivetrain. Standout at this price is the FOX Float X2 rear shock and ZEB fork pairing, which on competing brands appears only at £6,000-plus trims. Questionable is the Shimano SLX/Deore mix at this point in the modern bike-park market versus current SRAM Eagle 70 Transmission setups.

Community-verified strengths. First, the 180/180 mm travel and adjustable geometry put the Ransom eRIDE in the genuine bike-park bruiser tier, and at £4,695 it is one of the lowest entry points into that segment. One community comparison places the Ransom eRIDE 920 at €3,999 territory alongside the Niner WFO as the credible options at that price. Second, the FOX Float X2 + RockShox ZEB combination is properly capable suspension. Third, the alloy chassis is robust and supports both 29 and mullet 27.5/29 setups via the flip-chip.

Caveats and known gripes. The Bosch reliability flag from @RobertK.'s motor skip story is the most concrete: motor sent to Bosch under warranty for three weeks with a denied claim is the kind of outcome that anyone considering the bike should price into the buying decision. Lightweight versus weight: at 24.8 kg the Ransom eRIDE is heavy by current standards, with DJI Avinox-powered competitors like the Crestline RS 181 Spectre coming in around 21 to 24 kg with similar travel and removable battery. @Rob Rides EMTB documents a 164 cm/60 kg rider on a current Ransom eRIDE looking for "170 mm+ travel with lighter bike" because the alloy chassis is hefty for smaller riders. The 1.8 inch tapered headtube is non-standard, limiting aftermarket fork compatibility.

Verdict. The Ransom eRIDE is in current production and remains one of the cheapest serious entries into 180/180 mm full-power enduro on the market at £4,695. Buy it if you want a heavy-hitting 180 mm bike-park-ready chassis with a current Bosch CX Gen 5 motor and proper FOX Float X2 suspension at sub-£5k, you ride steep and rocky terrain where the long travel earns its keep, and you have a Scott-supporting Bosch dealer nearby. Look elsewhere if you want sub-23 kg lightweight, a 1.5 inch headtube for fork flexibility, a 750-plus Wh battery as standard, or higher confidence in motor warranty service. The Ransom eRIDE 920 sits in genuinely cheap-and-cheerful enduro territory and remains relevant.
