Carbon trail eMTB with Bosch Performance CX Gen4 (85Nm) and 625Wh battery (expandable to 1125Wh)

The Scott Genius eRIDE 2025 is the Swiss brand's versatile all-mountain carbon eMTB, built around the Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 motor (120 Nm, 250 W rated, 750 W peak, 2.8 kg) and a removable 625 Wh Bosch PowerTube battery. Travel is 150 mm front and 150 mm rear (160 mm front on some trims) via Scott's virtual four-link layout with TwinLoc Suspension System. Head angle is 64.5°, claimed weight 23.8 kg, and the bike features Scott's signature flip-chip allowing riders to switch between 27.5in and 29in wheel sizes. The community verdict on long-term reliability is genuinely excellent — @v950 reports "Scott Genius eRide 910 (2022) with Bosch CX Gen 4 and 625 Wh battery achieved 32,700 km on the original motor", which is exceptional.
Drive system and range. The Bosch CX Gen 5 brings the latest 120 Nm torque figure (after firmware updates from the launch-day 85 Nm), 750 W peak power and full Smart System ecosystem with Kiox display, Flow app integration and over-the-air firmware updates. The 625 Wh PowerTube is the only sub-Atherton battery weakness — many 2025 rivals run 750-800 Wh, although the pack is removable for easy off-bike charging. Expect 900-1,300 m of climbing per charge in trail mode. Scott has long supported dual-battery setups through the REX kit — @sandyman44 describes how the 910 Large takes a frame-specific plate and Bosch dual-battery Y-cable to fit a second PowerPack 500 to the down tube, taking effective capacity to 1,125 Wh.
Geometry and handling. A 64.5° head angle is squarely modern-trail. Reach progresses S 435 mm, M 460 mm, L 485 mm, XL 510 mm — generous modern numbers in 25 mm steps. Chainstays are fixed at 455 mm across the lineup, balanced for the bike's all-rounder positioning. Wheelbase grows from 1,255 mm on the S to 1,330 mm on the XL. The flip-chip wheel-size adjustment is genuinely useful: 27.5in for tighter agility, 29in for rollover and stability — and unlike most flip-chips this actually opens up real configuration options rather than just half-degree head-angle tweaks.
Build and value. Scott offers the Genius eRIDE across multiple trims. The Tuned (carbon) top spec gets Fox 36 Float Factory GRIP2 forks and Fox Nude T eRIDE shock with 3-mode TwinLoc lever. Lower carbon and alloy trims step down to Fox 36 Rhythm forks and Shimano BR-MT520 brakes. Shimano XT BR-M8120 brakes appear on the upper builds. Components include Shimano Deore XT 12-speed or SRAM Eagle depending on trim. The TwinLoc system is Scott's signature feature — a single bar-mounted lever lets riders cycle between full open, traction (mid-mode) and locked-out for sustained climbs, which is genuinely useful on long alpine ascents.
Community-verified strengths. @v950's 32,700 km on the original Bosch motor is one of the longest-running real-world reliability data points on the forum. @macinthekitchen reports excellent Scott UK customer service: "The Bosch system is designed so that water can drain away. If water was to make contact with the connectors or terminals it will drain away and not cause issues." TwinLoc receives consistent praise for sustained climbing. @sandyman44's dual-battery setup is a well-documented option for big-day rides.
Caveats and known gripes. The battery compartment is prone to mud accumulation: @Mikerb notes "Scott Genius eride battery compartment accumulates mud/crap at connector area after normal riding, can be mitigated with front mudguard and edge sealing". @sandyman44 also notes the REX dual-battery kit is only feasible on Large frames — "M or S sizes cannot remove battery once fitted", which limits the dual-battery option for shorter riders. The 625 Wh battery is the smallest in this segment by 2025 standards. Scott's pricing tends to sit at premium levels compared to direct rivals like Canyon Neuron Cllctv or Cube Stereo Hybrid 140.
Verdict. The Genius eRIDE is for the rider who wants Scott's flexible flip-chip wheel-size configuration, TwinLoc multi-mode suspension, the latest Bosch CX Gen 5 ecosystem and a decade-proven reliability track record. It is not for buyers who need maximum battery capacity from a single pack, anyone outside L-frame fit wanting dual-battery flexibility, or riders chasing the cheapest Bosch CX trail bike. Production status is current and Scott dealers stock the platform globally.
