EMTB Forums verdict

The R.XX is Rotwild's lightweight trail bike with a full-power heart - the Avinox M2S in a deliberately light carbon chassis, hitting around 20.6 kg (Ultra, M/L) rather than the 24-26 kg of a typical full-fat e-enduro. It is the third Avinox-powered Rotwild and the trail-focused member of the family, sitting below the all-mountain R.EX and the enduro R.EXC. Think Amflow PX territory: maximum motor, minimum mass.

Motor & battery

The Pro and Ultra run the flagship Avinox M2S - 130 Nm / 1,300 W continuous, rising to 150 Nm / 1,500 W in Boost - still the most powerful mainstream e-bike motor going. Worth knowing: the entry Core steps down to the Avinox M2 (110 Nm / 1,100 W continuous, 125 Nm Boost), so the cheapest bike is genuinely less powerful, not just lower-specced. Power comes from a fully integrated, non-removable 700 Wh Avinox pack (cylindrical-cell, 3.18 kg). Rotwild deleted the battery hatch on purpose - a fully enclosed down tube saves weight and adds frame stiffness - so the trade-off is that you charge the whole bike rather than pulling the pack. 700 Wh is about average capacity, the deliberate cost of the low weight.

Frame & suspension

The frame is high-modulus 1,100-fibre Toray carbon front triangle and elevated stays, in Rotwild's signature elevated-stay "Elevated Box Design". Suspension is a four-bar linkage delivering 150 mm rear (paired with a 160 mm fork), with the main pivot in a more conventional position than its enduro siblings. Rotwild quote a lower initial leverage ratio than the R.EX, which gives a firmer, more supportive baseline and a more active, poppy ride - this is tuned for direct trail feedback, not plush enduro wallow. Cable routing is internal but not forced through the headset, which is a welcome touch.

Geometry & fit

Modern trail rather than enduro: a 64° head angle, a steep 77° seat angle and a 345 mm BB height across all five sizes. Reach spans 430-520 mm (S-XL) in ~25 mm steps, with size-specific chainstays (435 mm on the S out to 460 mm on the XL) and wheelbases from 1,203 to 1,338 mm. Sizes S and M run mullet (27.5in rear); from M/L upward it is a full 29er. Two fit notes from the launch: the seat tubes are long (494 mm on the XL) but paired with an infinitely-adjustable, fully-integrated Eight Pins dropper (up to 240 mm on the XL), and that post is known to drop with little resistance - it tends to slam. All sizes get a 40 mm riser bar, and stack is generous on the bigger frames.

The builds (Rotwild prices in EUR; a UK GBP RRP was not published at launch)

  • Core - €8,490: the value entry, but on the less powerful Avinox M2. Fox 36 Float Rhythm fork, Float X Performance shock, alloy Newmen wheels and a mechanical SRAM Eagle 90 drivetrain.
  • Pro - €9,990: the cheapest way to the full M2S, with SRAM GX AXS Transmission and Newmen Phase carbon wheels - arguably the sweet spot.
  • Ultra - €11,990: M2S, Fox Factory (Grip X) suspension, SRAM X0 AXS, carbon wheels and bar - the 20.6 kg headline build. SRAM Motive brakes on 200 mm HS2 rotors and Schwalbe Albert (soft) tyres feature across the range. A fully-loaded configurator build (170 mm Fox Podium fork, SRAM XX) tops out around €13,490.

For riders who want Avinox power and trail-bike agility without e-enduro mass, the R.XX is one of the sharper options out there - just go in knowing the battery is sealed in and the Core's motor is the junior unit.

What the numbers mean on the trail

Computed from this bike's geometry, spec and build kit — reach, wheelbase, chainstay, head and seat angles, travel, motor, weight and the fork/tyre/brake spec — and worked out per size, because a fixed chainstay can make an S and an XL feel very different.

Size
Wheels
Descending
71

A solid all-round descender (64° head angle, 150mm) — capable in the rough and steep without being an all-out bruiser.

Playfulness
79

Short 452mm rear and a lighter build — easy to pop, manual and throw around.

Size balance
80

Balanced front-to-rear in L (FC:RC 1.87) — weight sits evenly between the wheels.

Technical climbing
81

Avinox M2S and a steep 77° seat angle keep the weight planted over the front — a proper winch. 1500W of peak power and 150Nm of torque — among the most powerful e-bike motors made.

Best suited toPlayful trail riding — jumps, pumps and tight, techy singletrack.

Easy to throw around; happiest when you're active on the bike.

Watch out forNo major red flags in the L geometry.

The numbers are well balanced for its category.
