Light eMTB with TQ HPR60 motor and 580Wh battery

The Rose FILE Plus 2026 is the German brand's mid-power lightweight eMTB, built around TQ's latest HPR60 motor on a carbon trail chassis. It runs 150 mm of fork travel and 140 mm rear, with a 580 Wh battery and TQ's near-silent harmonic-pin-ring drive. Headline numbers: 60 Nm of torque, 350 W peak power, a 1.924 kg motor weight (the lightest full-system unit on the lightweight market), a 65 degree head angle and reach growing from 435 to 510 mm across four sizes. €5,999 for the single base trim. Community verdict: a quietly competent direct-sale German lightweight that pairs TQ's quietest-in-class drive with a sensibly proportioned trail chassis at a sharp price.
Drive system and range. The TQ HPR60 is the upgraded sibling of the HPR50, lifting torque from 50 to 60 Nm and peak power from 300 to 350 W. It uses TQ's signature Harmonic Pin Ring design which gives one of the quietest, most natural-feeling assist characters in eMTB. The motor weighs just 1.924 kg, a meaningful step lighter than the Fazua Ride 60 (1.98 kg) and significantly lighter than the Bosch SX (2.0 kg). The 580 Wh battery is properly sized for the lightweight class, larger than the older Fuel EXe's 360 Wh pack and comparable to the latest TQ HPR60-equipped bikes from Trek and Yeti. Real-world range on mixed trail terrain should reach 50 to 80 km depending on assist and rider weight.
Geometry and handling. A 65 degree head angle is bang on the modern trail norm for a 140 mm rear travel platform. Reach grows from 435 mm in S to 510 mm in XL, a generous 75 mm spread that suits both shorter and taller riders. The 445 mm chainstay is identical across all sizes, on the playful side of the trail-bike market. Wheelbases run 1203 to 1292 mm. 29-inch wheels across the range. The geometry positions the FILE Plus as a versatile trail platform rather than a steep-and-aggressive descender, suiting riders who want quiet, light, balanced assist on full-day rides.
Build and value. One trim, €5,999. Rose's direct-sale model means buyers configure the bike online through the Rose Bikes website, with detailed component spec dependent on stock and dealer-equivalent fulfilment. The standout strength is the TQ HPR60 plus 580 Wh battery package at this price step: most carbon lightweight rivals with the HPR60 sit at €7,500 or higher (Trek Fuel EXe, Yeti MTe). The questionable note is the entry-level dropper, brake and wheel spec at this price, which is typical of direct-sale German brands optimising for headline value but inviting future upgrades.
Caveats and known gripes. Rose has limited UK dealer reach as a direct-sale brand, with bikes shipped from Germany through courier rather than supported by local dealers. Warranty and motor service rely on Rose's return-to-base model, which can mean meaningful downtime if the bike develops issues. The TQ HPR60 is a relatively new motor with limited long-term community reliability data: TQ have a stronger reputation for quietness than for repair-network depth. The 580 Wh battery, while larger than older lightweights, is still considerably smaller than full-power rivals at 750 to 800 Wh. The single-trim configuration also means no budget entry or flagship variant within the FILE Plus line.
Verdict. The Rose FILE Plus 2026 suits the lightweight eMTB rider who wants TQ's quietest-in-class HPR60 motor on a carbon trail chassis at a properly sharp direct-sale price, and who is comfortable with Rose's return-to-base service model. Riders chasing wider UK dealer reach, larger batteries or more aggressive trail geometry should look at the Trek Fuel EXe 9.5, the Yeti MTe or the Specialized Levo SL Gen 2. Production status: current.
