Carbon TQ HPR50 lightweight hardtail eMTB

The Rose Bonero Plus 2025 is the German brand's lightweight carbon hardtail eMTB, built around the TQ HPR50 motor (50 Nm torque, 250 W rated, 300 W manufacturer-claimed peak, 1.85 kg) and a 360 Wh integrated battery. 140 mm front fork on a carbon hardtail frame. Single base trim at €4,499, claimed weight just 16.9 kg. Four sizes from S to XL, reach 425-515 mm, head angle 65.0 degrees flat, chainstays 446 mm. The community read in one line: a properly considered lightweight carbon hardtail eMTB at sub-17 kg with the silent TQ HPR50 motor, sitting in a niche between an analogue trail hardtail and a full-suspension SL eMTB.
Drive system and range. The TQ HPR50 is the same coaxial Harmonic Pin Ring drive used by Trek Fuel EXe and Mondraker Neat — virtually silent under load, ultra-natural delivery, 1.85 kg motor weight. 50 Nm torque is modest by full-power standards but well-matched to a hardtail's lower drag and faster cadence. The 360 Wh battery is integrated into the downtube and typically not user-removable on TQ-equipped bikes. A 160 Wh range extender is available, pushing total to 520 Wh for serious days. Real-world range will sit in the 30 to 50 km territory on Trail/Eco mode, with the range extender enabling 50 to 80 km.
Geometry and handling. Trail-friendly hardtail. 65 degree head angle is sensible for a trail hardtail (slacker than typical XC, steeper than full-suspension enduro). Reach progresses 425 mm (S), 455 mm (M), 485 mm (L) and 515 mm (XL) — a generous reach range, especially the XL at 515 mm for tall riders. Chainstays held at 446 mm flat across all four sizes, with wheelbase 1186 to 1291 mm. Full 29er. The hardtail format means simple maintenance, no rear shock service, and the lightest possible weight at the travel point.
Build and value. Single base trim at €4,499 (16.9 kg). At this price expect a 140 mm RockShox or Fox 34 Performance class fork, four-piston brakes with 180-203 mm rotors, and a Shimano SLX or XT 12-speed drivetrain. €4,499 for a sub-17 kg carbon TQ HPR50 hardtail is genuinely competitive value — most TQ-equipped full-suspension bikes start at €7,500+.
Caveats and known gripes.
- Hardtail format means no rear suspension. Riders coming from full-suspension bikes will find rough trails punishing.
- 50 Nm torque is modest. Steep climbing remains legs-dependent.
- 360 Wh battery is small. Range extender is worth budgeting for if you want all-day capability.
- TQ battery typically not user-removable on this generation of bike. Charging happens on the bike via a discreet port.
- Single trim limits buyer choice — no upgrade ladder within the model line.
- Very limited community forum data. No detailed long-term reliability or ownership reports available yet.
Verdict. The Rose Bonero Plus 2025 is a thoughtful lightweight carbon hardtail eMTB for buyers who want the silent TQ HPR50 motor at the sharpest possible weight (16.9 kg) and a sensible price. It suits riders who already have a non-electric full-suspension bike and want a lightweight hardtail eMTB for fast/dry XC and trail use, particularly those who appreciate Rose's direct-to-consumer pricing and German engineering. Look elsewhere if you need rear suspension, full-power motor torque, or stronger international warranty support outside Germany. Production status: current, single base trim, four sizes.
