EMTB Forums verdict

The Wild TR is the Bosch-powered, shorter-travel companion to Orbea's new Avinox-equipped Wild LT - and the one that will fit far more riders' trails and budgets. Where the LT chases big-mountain descending on DJI's 150 Nm Avinox M2S, the TR sticks with the proven Bosch Performance Line CX and dials the travel back to a do-everything 150 mm front and rear. Orbea's own framing is "a wider audience": five builds, carbon or alloy, from £4,399 to £8,799.

Why Bosch, not Avinox

The headline difference from the LT is the drive unit. The TR runs the Bosch Performance Line CX (Gen 5) - up to 120 Nm and 750 W - which remains the benchmark full-power motor for natural, quiet, reliable delivery across a wide cadence range. It is less peak power than the LT's Avinox, but it is the motor a lot of riders actively want. One knock-on: the LT moved to Avinox partly to relocate the main pivot and cut anti-squat, and the Bosch unit's packaging rules that out, so expect the TR's pedalling feel to sit closer to the previous-generation Wild than to the LT.

Battery & range

Bosch PowerTube, with a genuine choice: a 600 Wh pack for lighter, livelier handling or a 750 Wh pack for range, both selectable in Orbea's MyO builder (all five 2026 builds ship with the 750 Wh as standard). A Bosch PowerMore 250 Wh range extender is compatible, taking the total to around 1,000 Wh for big days. The battery is removable, and the Bosch system pairs with the Kiox display and a Bluetooth remote, so there are no control wires to route to the motor.

Frame, suspension & the dedicated 29er call

The TR comes in carbon (M-series) and aluminium (H-series), sharing the Rallon-inspired industrial design of the LT albeit with a chunkier down tube and motor casing. Suspension is a concentric axle pivot and rocker link driving a 205x57.5 mm shock for the 150 mm of rear travel, with a leverage curve similar to the LT's. Unlike the LT, the TR is a dedicated 29er - no mullet option and no flip chip - a deliberate choice for rollover, efficiency and simplicity. Two honest trade-offs against the LT: it keeps the divisive through-headset cable routing (no alternative offered), and it drops the LT's quick-access multitool and gets simpler chainstay protection.

Geometry

The numbers are pitched at trail and all-mountain rather than full enduro: a 64.5° head angle (a touch sharper than the slacker LT, for quicker handling and better cornering on flatter ground), a steep 78.4° effective seat angle for an upright, central climbing position, and 448 mm chainstays held constant across the range. Reach runs 440-509 mm (S-XL) with stack from 619 to 645 mm and wheelbases of 1,219-1,302 mm. As with the LT, the rear centre does not grow with the front, so larger sizes sit increasingly front-biased.

The builds

  • Wild TR H20 - £4,399 / €4,999: alloy frame, RockShox Psylo Silver RC fork with a Fox Float Performance shock, full Shimano Deore M6200, Shimano MT420 brakes, WH23 alloy wheels and Maxxis Minion DHF/Dissector tyres. The value entry, and it ships the 2 A charger.
  • Wild TR H10 - £5,279 / €5,999: alloy, stepped up to a Fox 36 Float Performance fork, Deore M7200, Shimano MT620 brakes, Race Face AR wheels and Assegai / Minion DHR II rubber.
  • Wild TR M20 - £6,159 / €6,999: the cheapest carbon frame, Fox 36 Performance suspension, Deore M7200, MT420 brakes, Race Face AR wheels - the carbon-frame sweet spot.
  • Wild TR M10 - £7,479 / €8,499: carbon with Fox Factory 36 / Float X Factory (Kashima), Shimano XT M8200 drivetrain and brakes, DT Swiss H1900 wheels.
  • Wild TR M-Team - £8,799 / €9,999: the flagship - carbon, Fox Factory 36 / Float X Factory, a Shimano XTR rear mech with XT brakes, and Orbea's own Oquo MC32LTD carbon wheels.

What the numbers mean on the trail

Computed from this bike's geometry, spec and build kit — reach, wheelbase, chainstay, head and seat angles, travel, motor, weight and the fork/tyre/brake spec — and worked out per size, because a fixed chainstay can make an S and an XL feel very different.

Size
Descending
64

A solid all-round descender (64.5° head angle, 150mm) — capable in the rough and steep without being an all-out bruiser.

Playfulness
41

More planted than poppy — better on steep terrain than tight, fiddly singletrack.

Size balance
86

Balanced front-to-rear in L (FC:RC 1.84) — weight sits evenly between the wheels.

Technical climbing
84

Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 and a steep 78.4° seat angle keep the weight planted over the front — a proper winch. 750W of peak power and 120Nm of torque — among the most powerful e-bike motors made.

Best suited toBig-day all-rounders who climb a lot and still descend hard.

Strong up and composed down — a do-it-all, not a specialist.

Watch out forNo major red flags in the L geometry.

The numbers are well balanced for its category.

⚙️ Adjustable geometry: this frame has a high/low setting — low drops the BB and slackens the head angle for more descending stability; high lifts the BB and steepens slightly for clearance and a perkier, more playful feel.
