EMTB Forums verdict

The Orbea Wild FS was the brand's outgoing full-power enduro eMTB, an OMR carbon (or hydroformed alloy on H-models) 29er running 160mm of travel front and rear, driven by the Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 4 motor and the then-new Bosch Smart System. It was sold from autumn 2022 and carried as a model-year 2023 machine before Orbea replaced it in early 2023 with the all-new, redesigned Wild.

Geometry is comfortably modern for its era without chasing extremes: a 65.5 degree head angle, a 76 degree effective seat angle and a long 455mm chainstay across all sizes, with reach growing from 430mm on the S/M to 485mm on the XL. The frame was offered in three sizes (S/M, L, XL) rather than a four-size range, which is a notable quirk when sizing against rivals.

Trim value spans a wide ladder. The carbon M-Team headlines with Fox 38 Factory and Float X2 Factory suspension, a full Shimano XT 1x12 transmission, an e*thirteen Plus Alu crank and OQUO carbon wheels; the M10 keeps the carbon frame on Performance-level Fox; and the alloy H20 and entry H30 bring the platform down to RockShox 35 forks and Shimano Deore shifting, with the H30 dropping to the smaller 625Wh battery. All M and most H models use the 750Wh Bosch PowerTube.

As the predecessor to the current Wild, the Wild FS still makes sense for a buyer chasing a discounted, proven 160mm Bosch CX platform, provided they accept the three-size frame range and the older Gen 4 motor rather than the newer Wild's revised chassis.

What the numbers mean on the trail

Computed from this bike's geometry, spec and build kit — reach, wheelbase, chainstay, head and seat angles, travel, motor, weight and the fork/tyre/brake spec — and worked out per size, because a fixed chainstay can make an S and an XL feel very different.

Size
Descending
60

A solid all-round descender (65.5° head angle, 160mm) — capable in the rough and steep without being an all-out bruiser.

Playfulness
35

More planted than poppy — better on steep terrain than tight, fiddly singletrack.

Size balance
84

Rear-long with a planted front in L (FC:RC 1.71) — easy to weight the front and quick to turn, though it can feel light at the back at real speed.

Technical climbing
77

Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 4 and a steep 76° seat angle keep the weight planted over the front — a proper winch. 600W of peak power and 85Nm of torque — a strong full-power motor.

Best suited toBig-day all-rounders who climb a lot and still descend hard.

Strong up and composed down — a do-it-all, not a specialist.

Watch out forNot a flickable, playful bike at 23kg — built to plough, not pop.

Brilliant on fast, rough, steep terrain; less fun on tight, mellow trails.
