Norco Sight VLT 2023
EMTB Forums verdict

The 2023 Norco Sight VLT is the Canadian brand's full-power all-mountain e-bike, sitting a step below the longer-travel Range VLT enduro machine. It pairs 160mm up front with 150mm of Horst Link travel on full 29in wheels, built around Norco's Ride Aligned geometry with a 64-degree head angle, size-specific seat angles from 77 to 78 degrees and a shared 462mm rear centre across all four sizes.

Power comes from Shimano's STEPS EP8 drive unit (85Nm) feeding a removable Norco VLT in-tube battery, offered in 540Wh, 720Wh and 900Wh capacities so riders can dial range against weight. The big 900Wh pack is among the larger options on an all-mountain platform of this era. Note that Norco listed the battery as a separate purchase from the frame.

Four builds spanned the range: alloy A2 and A1, then carbon C2 and C1. The aluminium A2 and A1 keep things sensible with RockShox 35 Gold or Fox Rhythm 36 forks and Shimano drivetrains, while the carbon C2 steps up to a Lyrik and the flagship C1 goes all-in with Fox Factory 36 GRIP2, Float X2, SRAM Code RSC stoppers on a 220mm front rotor and DT Swiss E 1700 wheels. The alloy trims offer the stronger value; the C1 is a premium statement build.

The Sight VLT was discontinued after the 2023 model year, so it is now a used-market or run-out proposition rather than a current model.

What the numbers mean on the trail

Computed from this bike's geometry, spec and build kit — reach, wheelbase, chainstay, head and seat angles, travel, motor, weight and the fork/tyre/brake spec — and worked out per size, because a fixed chainstay can make an S and an XL feel very different.

Size
Descending
69

A solid all-round descender (64° head angle, 150mm) — capable in the rough and steep without being an all-out bruiser.

Playfulness
22

More planted than poppy — better on steep terrain than tight, fiddly singletrack.

Size balance
96

Rear-long with a planted front in L (FC:RC 1.80) — easy to weight the front and quick to turn, though it can feel light at the back at real speed.

Technical climbing
81

Shimano EP8 (DU-EP800) and a steep 77.7° seat angle keep the weight planted over the front — a proper winch. 500W of peak power and 85Nm of torque — a strong full-power motor.

Best suited toBig-day all-rounders who climb a lot and still descend hard.

Strong up and composed down — a do-it-all, not a specialist.

Watch out forNot a flickable, playful bike — built to plough, not pop.

Brilliant on fast, rough, steep terrain; less fun on tight, mellow trails.

“Picked up the Sight today, wow what a bike. Straight off the bat I installed CushCore, riding in Christchurch NZ is quite rocky, bike has E13 rims which are made out of cheese, so wise investment. Rode 36km, mix of eco / trail / boost,…”

Norco Sight VLT (Shimano-era / 2025 CX) — what owners actually know
1,379 posts · 292 owners · data through May 2026
14CX: sizing runs big-for-the-number, and the shared Range frame invites long-shock builds · typical onset: At purchase (sizing) and during the first owning months (build changes).
12LEGACY (Shimano-era VLT): carbon chainstay / rocker-link / frame damage · typical onset: Chainstay: after chain jams; rocker link: with age/wear
11LEGACY (Shimano-era VLT, 2019-2024): water / charge-port and wire-harness electrical shutdowns (the used-buyer headline) · typical onset: From new in some cases; far more common in wet seasons / after pressure-washing
First ride on the 2025 CX: a 20-mile / 3,000ft loop with 43% battery left, 'insanely quiet descending', the high pivot 'noticeably plush on sharp edge bumps'.
