EMTB Forums verdict

The Norco Fluid VLT 2025 is the Canadian brand's lightweight trail eMTB: a carbon front triangle and carbon stays around 140 mm of rear travel paired with 150 mm of fork, powered by the Bosch Performance Line SX motor at 55 Nm of torque and 600 W peak, and an integrated 400 Wh CompactTube battery. At a claimed 18.5 kg with mullet 29/27.5 wheels and a 64.5 degree head angle, the Fluid VLT positions itself as a lighter, more agile trail alternative to full-power 800 Wh enduros. Norco's Ride Aligned design system gives a size-progressive geometry with chainstays growing 432 mm (S1) to 444 mm (S5).

Drive system and range. Bosch SX delivers 55 Nm of torque, 600 W peak (post-July 2025 firmware) and 2.0 kg unit weight. @JP-NZ notes Bosch updated SX to 60 Nm in NZ-spec firmware. The 400 Wh CompactTube battery is integrated and not removable. @f1xedgear documents the real-world range character: "Turbo is almost always too much power for singletrack without extreme elevation. eMTB+ is overpowered. Tour+ gives great assistance. Mixing Eco on flat sections gives 30 miles (48 km) range." That is excellent practical data for buyers — the Fluid VLT has all-day capability if ridden in Tour+ rather than Turbo.

Geometry and handling. A 64.5 degree head angle is bang in the modern trail-enduro sweet spot. Norco's Ride Aligned reach progression is class-leading: 422 mm (S1), 447 mm (S2), 472 mm (S3), 497 mm (S4), 522 mm (S5). Chainstays scale with size: 432 mm (S1) through 436 mm (S3), 440 mm (S4), 444 mm (S5) — a genuine size-balanced rear-centre approach that very few rivals match. Wheelbase grows 1,181 mm (S1) to 1,310 mm (S5). The Horst Link suspension is the proven 4-bar layout. The bike's geometry shows real engineering thought.

Build and value. Two trims share the carbon chassis. The £6,499 VLT C2 at 18.5 kg pairs a RockShox Lyrik fork (150 mm), FOX Float X2 Performance Elite shock (185x55 mm), TRP Trail Evo 4-piston brakes (203 mm front / 180 mm rear) and SRAM GX Eagle AXS T-Type wireless 12-speed. The £7,999 VLT C1 at 18.1 kg steps up to FOX 36 Performance Elite fork, SRAM Code Silver Stealth brakes (200/180 mm rotors) and SRAM X0 Eagle AXS T-Type. Both have AXS wireless drivetrains — strong value at the C2 price point.

Community-verified strengths. Bosch SX with Norco's Ride Aligned size-progressive geometry is the practical winning combination. @f1xedgear's detailed real-world Bosch SX usage data is the strongest single piece of forum evidence: 30 mi (48 km) range in mixed-mode use, with Tour+ providing the right level of assistance for general trail riding. The 64.5 degree HA, mullet wheels and size-specific chainstays are well-judged for the bike's all-day trail intent. @Flo7 has built a comprehensive custom Norco Fluid VLT with Lewis LH4 brakes, OneUp dropper, Roval Traverse SL wheels and SRAM XX Transmission, signalling the platform's appeal to high-end builders.

Caveats and known gripes. @rayke on a VLT A1 reports the stock RockShox Silver 35 fork is inadequate for a 220 lb (100 kg) rider, and that fitting a RockShox Domain with FSA crown-race reducer (1.5" to 1.8") results in slop over roots and rocks even with the stem cap torqued to 10 Nm — the oversized 1.8" steerer is a design consideration buyers should understand. @RustyB rented a VLT C3 and preferred the Orbea Wild ST H30 for feel. @Suns_PSD notes Fazua Relay-equipped rivals keep up with full-power bikes on trails but full-power motors away on road climbs — a useful framing for buyers torn between SL and full-power systems. The 400 Wh integrated battery limits big-day range without an extender.

Verdict. The Norco Fluid VLT is a thoughtfully-engineered lightweight trail eMTB: a carbon Bosch SX platform with size-progressive geometry, mullet wheels and AXS wireless drivetrains from £6,499. It will suit riders who want all-day trail capability with a lighter ride feel than full-power 800 Wh alternatives, and who value Norco's reputation for engineering rigour and size-specific chainstays. Buyers wanting maximum power, removable batteries or the slackest possible enduro geometry should look at Cube One77 SLX, Ghost E-Riot or full-power Norco Sight VLT instead. Production status: current.
