A solid all-round descender (69° head angle, 120mm) — capable in the rough and steep without being an all-out bruiser.

Long-geometry alloy hardtail with the modest E7000 motor

The 2022 Thundra is Mondraker's alloy e-hardtail, the Shimano-powered sibling of the Prime. It runs a Shimano STEPS E7000 motor (60Nm) fed by an internal, non-removable Simplo 630Wh battery, with an optional Simplo 360Wh external range extender. The frame is Mondraker's Thundra Xtralite 6061 alloy built around their signature Forward Geometry, on 29in wheels with zero rear travel.
Two builds shared the platform. The standard Thundra is the trail-focused option, with a 120mm RockShox Recon fork and grippy Maxxis Rekon 29x2.6 tyres at a claimed 22.4kg. The Thundra X is the urban and lifestyle variant, dropping to a 100mm fork on fast-rolling Maxxis Grifter semi-slicks and adding lights, mudguards, a rear rack and kickstand, at a claimed 23.9kg.
Both trims share a mid-tier SRAM SX Eagle 1x12 drivetrain and SRAM Level T brakes, so this was pitched at value rather than outright performance. The Thundra is now discontinued, but as a straightforward, lighter alloy e-hardtail it remains a sensible do-it-all commuter and light trail machine.
What the numbers mean on the trail
Computed from this bike's geometry, spec and build kit — reach, wheelbase, chainstay, head and seat angles, travel, motor, weight and the fork/tyre/brake spec — and worked out per size, because a fixed chainstay can make an S and an XL feel very different.
Short 455mm rear and a lighter build — easy to pop, manual and throw around.
Rear-long with a planted front in L (FC:RC 1.66) — easy to weight the front and quick to turn, though it can feel light at the back at real speed.
Climbs well — a 73.5° seat keeps the front planted. 250W of peak power and 60Nm of torque.
Easy to throw around; happiest when you're active on the bike.
The numbers are well balanced for its category.
