EMTB Forums verdict

The 2026 Prime is Mondraker's aluminium hardtail e-MTB, rebuilt around the latest Bosch Performance Line CX Smart System motor and a removable 800Wh PowerTube battery, the largest pack Bosch currently offers. With a 120mm fork, 29in wheels and Mondraker's Forward Geometry, it sits at the accessible end of the trail category, and the new M/L size brings the range to five fits from S through XL.

The line splits into two strands. The S and R are trail-focused builds on WTB wheels and Maxxis Rekon knobblies, while the X and RX add Mavic E-Access wheels, faster-rolling Maxxis Metropass tyres, integrated lighting, mudguards, front and rear carrier racks and a kickstand for everyday and urban-trail duty. The cheaper S and X get a RockShox Recon Silver RL fork; the R and RX step up to a Fox 29 AWL Sport fork and an X-Fusion Manic dropper in place of the rigid Onoff post.

On price, the S opens at GBP 3,799, the X lands at GBP 3,999, the R sits at GBP 4,199 and the equipment-laden RX tops out at GBP 4,499. Every trim shares the same Bosch motor, 800Wh battery and a full SRAM 70 Eagle T-Type 12-speed drivetrain with four-piston DB6 brakes on 200mm rotors, so the differences come down to fork, dropper and wheel or tyre choice rather than core capability.

Geometry is moderate and trail-friendly rather than aggressive: the standard Prime runs a 67 degree head angle, 74.5 degree effective seat angle and 455mm chainstays across all sizes, with reach growing from 405mm on the S to 500mm on the XL (the urban-leaning X and RX use a slightly steeper 68 degree head angle and shorter reach). The hardtail rear and 120mm of front travel point this at smoother trails, gravel and mixed everyday riding rather than steep technical descents.
