EMTB Forums verdict

The 2024 Mondraker Prime is the brand's full-power 'Sport' e-MTB: a 29in aluminium hardtail trail eMTB built on Mondraker's Xtralite 6061 frame and Forward Geometry. It is deliberately straightforward, a 120mm RockShox fork up front and no rear suspension, designed as a value, all-conditions trail bike rather than a long-travel enduro machine.

Power comes from a Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 4 motor (85 Nm, 600 W) run through an Intuvia 100 display and Mini Remote. The base Prime carries a removable Bosch PowerTube 625Wh battery, SRAM SX Eagle 12-speed gearing, SRAM Level T 2-piston brakes and Maxxis Rekon 29x2.6 tyres on Mavic E-CrossRide wheels, with a rigid Onoff post. The Prime R steps up to a 750Wh battery, a remote-lockout RockShox Recon Gold fork, SRAM DB8 4-piston brakes and an Onoff Pija dropper.

Geometry is moderate by modern eMTB standards, a 69 degree head angle, 73.5 degree seat angle and 455mm chainstays across the range, with reach growing from 410mm to 505mm. Claimed weight is around 22.7kg. UK RRP was 3,699 GBP for the base Prime and 4,099 GBP for the Prime R.

Two further trims wore the Prime name in 2024, the Prime RX and the separate Prime X, but both are urban-cross / commuter builds on slick-ish Maxxis Grifter tyres and an urban cockpit, so they sit outside this trail-eMTB record.

What the numbers mean on the trail

Computed from this bike's geometry, spec and build kit — reach, wheelbase, chainstay, head and seat angles, travel, motor, weight and the fork/tyre/brake spec — and worked out per size, because a fixed chainstay can make an S and an XL feel very different.

Size
Descending
44

Steeper 69° and shorter travel — happiest descending smooth, flowy trail rather than properly rough or steep terrain.

Playfulness
69

Short 455mm rear and a lighter build — easy to pop, manual and throw around.

Size balance
73

Rear-long with a planted front in L (FC:RC 1.66) — easy to weight the front and quick to turn, though it can feel light at the back at real speed.

Technical climbing
72

Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 4 and a steep 73.5° seat angle keep the weight planted over the front — a proper winch. 600W of peak power and 85Nm of torque — a strong full-power motor.

Best suited toPlayful trail riding — jumps, pumps and tight, techy singletrack.

Easy to throw around; happiest when you're active on the bike.

Watch out forNot built for serious descending — happier on flow than in the rough and steep.

Fine at trail pace; it'll feel out of its depth on properly rough, steep tracks.
