EMTB Forums verdict

The 2022 Merida eONE-SIXTY was the brand's e-enduro flagship, a mixed-wheel (29in front, 27.5in rear) machine with 160 mm of travel up front and 150 mm at the rear, driven by Shimano's EP8 motor and a 630 Wh internal battery (504 Wh on the XS size). Geometry is consistent across the range, with a 65.5° head angle, 75.5° seat angle and short 439.5 mm chainstays, giving reach figures from 400 mm (XS) to 480 mm (XL). It is now discontinued.

Two frames span the seven builds. The 10K, 9000 and 8000 use the carbon-front, alloy-rear eONE-SIXTY CFA II frame, while the 975, 775, 700 and 575 use the all-alloy eONE-SIXTY LITE III. The £10,000 10K is the halo build with a FOX 38 Factory fork, Float X2 shock, XTR brakes and a RockShox Reverb AXS post. The 9000 (£7,850) and 8000 (£6,350) step down to FOX Performance-level suspension and Shimano XT/SLX kit, and the alloy 700 (£5,750) pairs a Marzocchi Z1 fork with Shimano SLX for the best value in the line.

All builds share Maxxis Assegai / DHR II tyres (Kenda Regolith on the entry 575) and Merida's THERMO GATE and WIRE PORT frame features. The range was later superseded by EP801-equipped models and, more recently, by the Bosch-powered eONE-SIXTY SL and current-generation eONE-SIXTY. No forum owner data is included in this entry.

What the numbers mean on the trail

Computed from this bike's geometry, spec and build kit — reach, wheelbase, chainstay, head and seat angles, travel, motor, weight and the fork/tyre/brake spec — and worked out per size, because a fixed chainstay can make an S and an XL feel very different.

Size
Descending
62

A solid all-round descender (65.5° head angle, 150mm) — capable in the rough and steep without being an all-out bruiser.

Playfulness
70

Short 439mm rear and a lighter build — easy to pop, manual and throw around.

Size balance
91

Balanced front-to-rear in L (FC:RC 1.82) — weight sits evenly between the wheels.

Technical climbing
64

Climbs well — a 75.5° seat keeps the front planted. 500W of peak power and 85Nm of torque — a strong full-power motor.

Best suited toPlayful trail riding — jumps, pumps and tight, techy singletrack.

Easy to throw around; happiest when you're active on the bike.

Watch out forNo major red flags in the L geometry.

The numbers are well balanced for its category.

40Creaks, knocks and bearing wear: scattered, no single cluster · typical onset: From new (assembly) through normal service intervals.
31LEGACY (Shimano E8000 and EP8 eras): motor failures (internals covered in the Shimano E8000 and EP8 owners' reports) · typical onset: Anywhere from a few hundred km to a few years; heat on long climbs is a common trigger.
19LEGACY (E8000 era): external battery cover loss and battery-mount rattle · typical onset: From new on rough terrain.
Current generation: an owner who ran a 2024 e160 (EP6) for 18 months then a 2025 e160 (EP801) called both 'brilliant EMTBs' and felt a clear 100W climbing gain…
