Bosch SX lightweight sibling of eONE-SIXTY

The Merida eONE-SIXTY LITE 2026 is Merida's lightweight all-mountain eMTB, a carbon chassis built around the Bosch Performance Line SX motor and a 400 Wh battery. Headline numbers: 170 mm front, 174 mm rear travel, Bosch SX at 55 Nm and 600 W peak (2.0 kg), 400 Wh internal pack, a 64.4 degree head angle, reach 419 to 499 mm across five sizes (XShort to XLong) and a 446 mm fixed chainstay. The community verdict, drawing on Merida's strong reputation for handling on the full-power eONE-SIXTY (which @Mr Scooter rates as "handles beautifully" relative to the Levo, Trek Rail, Commencal and Pivot), is that the LITE variant brings that proven chassis into the lightweight tier with the Bosch SX mid-power system.
Drive system and range. The Bosch Performance Line SX is the lightweight Bosch unit at 2.0 kg, delivering 55 Nm and 600 W peak. It is the German alternative to Fazua Ride 60 and TQ HPR50, with the same SmartSystem ecosystem and Bosch Flow app integration as the full-power CX motor. The 400 Wh battery is the smaller of the two Bosch lightweight options, so range is the practical limitation: expect 25 to 35 miles on mixed terrain in Eco/Tour modes, less if using Turbo regularly. The Bosch Powermore 250 Wh range extender bottle adds an option for 650 Wh total capacity on big-day rides. Bosch dealer support is the deepest in the industry, which is a real differentiator for a lightweight eMTB.
Geometry and handling. The 64.4 degree head angle is bang on category-norm for a 170/174 mm enduro-leaning all-mountain bike. Merida uses size-naming rather than letters: XShort, Short, Mid, Long, XLong sit at 419, 439, 459, 479 and 499 mm reach with a fixed 446 mm chainstay and wheelbase scaling 1199 to 1288 mm. The five-size run is unusually granular and is one of the platform's strengths for fit. The fixed chainstay across the size run is common but not class-leading: rivals like the Ibis Oso TR offer size-specific chainstays.
Build and value. Base trim is the only listed build in current gold for the LITE variant. Merida's standard eONE-SIXTY platform has historically been good value (the 400/500 trims at the Bosch CX end), and the LITE variant should continue that. Standout is the broader Merida heritage of a refined trail chassis: @Mr Scooter describes the platform as having "Fact X2 and 38 are top drawer" on his build, which is the kind of chassis that takes high-end suspension well. Questionable is the 400 Wh battery, which is small even by lightweight standards in 2026: the Avinox-powered Amflow PL Carbon ships with 800 Wh removable, and the Cannondale Moterra SL ships with 601 Wh.
Community-verified strengths. First, the broader eONE-SIXTY chassis has a long and well-regarded community reputation. @Mr Scooter, who has raced downhill, says "This thing handles beautifully... I will go out on a limb and say I didn't really like the Levo, Trek Rail and Commencal 29 nor the Pivot". Second, the platform supports significant rider customisation: @RoJo shares setup tips, @Astro66 went to Shimano XT Di2 Electronic Transmission with Coastshift on his 2025 eONE-SIXTY 400. Third, the five-size run including XShort and XLong fits riders that other brands' four-size runs miss.
Caveats and known gripes. The 400 Wh battery is small. @Re-Cycle notes the Merida eONE-SIXTY internal cable routing required removing the motor to add a cable run, which is a non-trivial maintenance job. @RoJo reports needing Polaris enduro straps around the battery to stop the system turning off on big drops, a battery-lock issue on older eONE-SIXTY chassis that should be addressed on current LITE bikes but worth checking at delivery. The deeper concern is resale value: @Astro66 notes selling his 2025 eONE-SIXTY 400 at AUD $3,900 representing roughly 30 to 40% depreciation in 9 months, which is roughly class average but still a meaningful real-world cost.
Verdict. The eONE-SIXTY LITE is in current production and is one of the most credible Bosch SX-powered all-mountain eMTBs on the market for riders who want Bosch ecosystem reliability in a lightweight package. Buy it if you want a 170/174 mm trail/enduro chassis from a brand with a proven handling reputation, a Bosch SX motor, deep dealer support and a five-size run that fits genuine outliers. Look elsewhere if you need a 600 Wh-plus battery as standard, a sub-£5k price tag (which the LITE likely will not hit at current premium positioning), or a full-power 85 Nm-plus motor.
