Alloy LITE-frame trail eMTB with Shimano EP801 (85Nm) and 712Wh EN817 battery; mullet-compatible flip chip

The Merida eONE-FORTY LITE 2026 is Merida's lightweight sibling to the full-power eONE-FORTY, built on a carbon chassis with Bosch's Performance Line SX drive. It runs 150 mm of fork travel and 143 mm rear, with a 400 Wh battery and a Bosch SX motor delivering 55 Nm of torque and 600 W of peak power. Headline numbers: 2.0 kg motor weight (the lightest Bosch full-system option), a 66.5 degree head angle and a 431 to 511 mm reach range across Merida's signature five-size (XShort, Short, Mid, Long, XLong) lineup. Community verdict: a smartly engineered lightweight that uses Merida's clever sizing and proven eONE-FORTY chassis genes, paired with one of the most natural-feeling lightweight motors on the market.
Drive system and range. The Bosch Performance Line SX is the manufacturer's lightweight motor option, delivering 55 Nm of torque and 600 W of peak power in a 2.0 kg package. It pairs with the Bosch Smart System ecosystem, so the eONE-FORTY LITE gets all the firmware updates, Bosch Flow app integration and Kiox display compatibility of its full-power siblings. The 400 Wh battery is on the smaller side of the lightweight class but typical for Bosch SX platforms, with real-world mixed-terrain range usually 30 to 55 km depending on assist and rider weight. Bosch's PowerMore range extender adds 250 Wh through a bottle-mount port for longer rides.
Geometry and handling. A 66.5 degree head angle is a touch steeper than the modern trail norm and reflects the eONE-FORTY LITE's positioning as a quick, light, balanced trail platform rather than an aggressive descender. Merida's five-size system (XShort to XLong) is a strength: it bypasses traditional small-medium-large fits in favour of reach-led sizing. Reach grows from 431 mm in XShort to 511 mm in XLong, a useful 80 mm spread. The 449 mm chainstay is identical across sizes, which keeps the rear end manageable on smaller frames but means XLong riders may want a longer rear centre proportionally. Wheelbases run 1191 to 1280 mm.
Build and value. Merida have not published full UK pricing in our gold record. As a 2026 platform, build spec across trims is still being defined through Merida's dealer network. The standout strengths are the proven chassis (Merida's eONE-FORTY full-power platform has had multi-year community feedback to refine), the five-size lineup that fits more riders cleanly than three-size brands, and the Bosch Smart System ecosystem reliability. The questionable note is the small 400 Wh battery for a 150 mm trail platform: heavier or more aggressive trail riders will quickly find themselves wanting the PowerMore extender.
Community-verified strengths. Owners of previous eONE-FORTY full-power generations consistently praise Merida's chassis stiffness and ride feel, with multiple long-term reports of 800 km plus mileage on reliable Shimano EP8 platforms. The five-size lineup has been called out as more inclusive than typical three-size geometry. Carbon construction on a trail eMTB at the Bosch SX price band remains relatively rare, so the LITE buyer gets a meaningful frame-weight saving over aluminium SX rivals. Community discussion of the eONE-FORTY family also confirms strong UK dealer support and parts availability.
Caveats and known gripes. The 400 Wh battery is the most consistent compromise across Bosch SX platforms, including this one. Earlier eONE-FORTY 400 generation rear shocks had a documented manufacturing issue where the wrong grade of grease clogged a port, equalising the air chambers and causing pedal strikes every 150 km until rebuilt with FOX oil. While the 2026 trim should not carry this defect, it speaks to the importance of confirming current shock spec at the dealer. Internal cable routing on Merida frames historically requires motor removal to access fully, which can slow drivetrain or brake hose service. And the 66.5 degree head angle limits descending capability compared to a slacker-angle lightweight like the Spectral:ONfly.
Verdict. The eONE-FORTY LITE 2026 suits the lightweight trail rider who wants Merida's well-developed chassis with Bosch's quietest, lightest full-system motor and exceptionally fine sizing options, on a carbon frame. Riders chasing bigger batteries, longer travel or slacker geometry should look at the full-power eONE-SIXTY, the Specialized Levo SL or the Canyon Spectral:ONfly. Production status: current.
